as for "formerly", Mr La Rue is former "liftoff", but he got butted into space by BK's boot, mask and all (on BK, that is).
Hua Hin, I have not been there yet, but whenever I ak Thais about it, they respond favorably. For one, the seem to like that it's the hang out for King & Queen, second, they say it IS a nice place. Met a European white male recently who lives down there. In his view it was worth it going by limo to BKK, whenever he has business to attend to, 1500 Bht.

Bro's were booking a short trip to Samui in late Oct early Nov. Ive been meaning to get down there for a dive trip. Hows the weather during this time of year/season. According to Thai seasonal charts it says highest season for the rain deluge. Monsoonville ?

If so they can go and I'll do a dive trip in the cool season.

Yes, it is likely you will get rain, but not all day. The diving on Koh Tao is OK during that time, all the Samui operators go that direction - long boat trip for a day of diving. Personally, I'd go right to Koh Tao and stay there for a couple of days of diving.

Rain, charts say 33.3 cm during Nov in Samui the highest but usually afternoon dousel. I may hang in Pattaya and do a Samet or Chang shorty with my P4P tigress. Besides it will be Haloween time and Pattaya will be a rockin with the witches and the vampresses.

you answered your own question. koh tao: closer to the diving, what little there is in the gulf; not much to do in the way of party life (unless you like the hippie-hesher-stoner-parties)...although i'm sure some will disagree. this is not to say koh tao isn't a great place, because it IS. many of the resorts are VERY relaxing (if not boring).
samui is much better for night life, but a much longer boat ride to the dive sites. but you probably already figured that one out.
as for rain. very unpredictable. I was just there recently and it pissed all over us. no diving. most dive operators wont do a dive if it's raining.
so, stay in pattaya dive the old slippery clam with your tigress. good luck and tell us how it is.
