gotta say, my experience in the trips I have made to samui, lamai was a great great spot for extra fun. I much prefer it to chaweng. lamai gets very wild at night if you are looking for sex. Chaweng is bigger but I finf lamai's concentraton of nice spots to be all I needed. Sex on lamai beach was nice too!

All,

I will be spending a few days in Chaweng next month.
Where is good to go in this area for massages and gogo.

I may also be with some "innocent female companions" is there anywhere nice to go to impress them. I was thinking of something like the Big thai disco's/gentleman clubs that are dotted around bkk.

Cheers,

Hwa

Report from The Nation dated Tuesday 8 May 2007 :-

Club Med eyes Koh Samui
====================

Club Med is looking to expand its business in Thailand by opening a village resort on Koh Samui after its first venture in Phuket has proved a huge success.

Caroline Puechoultres, president and CEO for the Asia-Pacific, said Club Med was conducting a feasibility study and looking for an area of at least 150 square rai to build the village.

"Samui will probably be the first place for expansion in Thailand," she said.

Puechoultres added the group would target adult tourists rather than the mixed market as in Phuket, where Club Med opened a children's Mini Club in January.

"We must diversify the marketing position between the two villages in order to serve different markets," she said.

The group has 80 properties worldwide, including nine in the Asia-Pacific region. It offers a big range of holidays, from ski resorts to tropical beaches and cruises. Each of its villages focuses on a different market.

Club Med is also planning to open villages in Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Sri Lanka, Fiji and China, where its two properties will be a mountain village and a beach resort. It will also open a second village in the Maldives and a third one in Japan.

Puechoultres said Club Med Phuket was providing one of the company's best financial returns because it was operating with lower costs.

The group has been operating in Phuket for 22 years. The business was badly damaged by the 2004 tsunami, but it has recovered along with the overall tourism business in southern Thailand.

Club Med has spent Bt250 million on renovations and adding facilities in order to attract international tourists back to Phuket. The village has 13 new suites, upgraded guestrooms and its children's club. Another 20 to 30 villas are planned.

Puechoultres said 50 per cent of guests were from overseas, while the rest were Thais and expats, particularly Japanese and French.

The property has an occupancy rate of 90 per cent in the peak season from October to April. It is expected to fall to 70 per cent from May to September.

"This year, we will focus on more corporate groups by adding more sales representative to approach targeted companies, as well as providing more activities at the village to meet business needs," said Puechoultres.

Ok, As no one was able to provide any info for Chaweng. I will reply to my own post!

I stayed in the middle section of Chaweng which was very busy, but my resort was very peaceful and only one minute for the beach - fantastic location!

The beach was beautiful with white sands and blue water. Our beach section was coved off with a barrier of rocks so that the sea water was kept shallow and the size of the waves were dampered. It made the whole beach very beautiful and kept the line of the beach constant.

Lots of shopping and market stalls available along the main road and plenty of very good eating establishments.

The places that I discovered are;

Reggae Bar: A very nice atmosphere - open drinking area, and quite dark. Has a large stage with a very good live band playing. The night I went there, it was busy, but not packed - it is alittle out of the way, but worth finding. With a few girly bars near it.

The is a club called Moulin Rouge near Reggae Bar, which looked interesting but did not get chance to visit it.

The Green Mango: This is a very good club with lots of clubs/bars in its vacinity. Green Mango has 3 or 4 areas one playing R'n'B/Hip Hop, another playing Pop/House, a 9ball/pool area and a sitting area. Very busy and good night out. Plenty of ladies on offer with a few being quite tasty. Unfortunately I was shopping that night :- (

Christy's Cabaret: Surprisingly, I had a good time here. This is a Lady Boy Cabaret show and bar. Good show, fun and playful (unfortunately!!) waitresses and a good laugh!

I had some very nice trips outs around the island for various activities including elephant riding, visiting one of the water falls and snorkling.

I would definetly come back here to explore more of this island.
