I see nil point in booking business class for a 1 hour flight.
Try air Asia,, 599 BHT plus tax.
Or Nokair 378 BHT plus tax,, Nokair NOKPLUS ( same same business ) 878 BHT plus tax.

gone up to 8,000 baht now with the thai airways website, they give you 500 miles, but if you follow mel's advice with the savings you get a lot of hours of fun.
also some times you get a crappy little plane on the night flight with 6 or 8 business seats, thai needs to update all there planes and soon

Doing Thai Airlines at 12300 baht for 2 round trip tickets.
Will work sneaking out to Oskar's and with a little bit of luck the bars around the Charoensri Grand Royal Hotel.
Will have to do the MK and Karaoka bit with the family on Thursday, plus get a car and driver to help me teach the TGF to drive. Along with some internet/e-mail classes............what else is there to do in Udon Thani???

Saw Mel beat me to this post. 1200 per person each way on Air Asia, 2 flights a day, all flights are available through the end of the year. Nok Air same same. And Nok sometime uses Thai Airways planes, as it is owned by TG.
Personally, the overnight train with the sex cabin (1st class sleeper) would have been fun too. I did that once from Bangkok to Chumporn, got two shots in!  Better than a soapy. Well, almost.
Have fun with the family.
