Wednesday.
Just come over from Pattaya today and checked into nice hotel, Sabai Mansion on the main drag.
OK, the hotel is great 400 bht night for long term, pool, very clean, safe in room.
NIGHTLIFE, went with a few others who are staying here and the place is a BLOODY GHOST TOWN. The bars that are open, have girls. I am a bit choosy but I would rate the best girl at 3. My mate has a 7 and she is the only exception. All the great chicks have gone. In the 20 bars in the street heading down the hill towards the beach on the left has about 3-5 girls in them, some only have 2.
WARNING WARNING WARNING.
Dont come over here until the season picks up.

Thai girls strongly believe in ghosts.
The good looking ones left, and less actractive do the math decided to stay hoping their main compeitors gone <business for them personally might improve.
Few girls believe that these places will ever recover.
Certainly it will take time.
To illustrate the thai culture of ghosts, in the north of thailand where I still am.
The villagers and even my girlfriend (who studied til end of high school) dare not walk the country road at night.
several accidents (one including lightening strike) motor bike fatality, stroke (possibly) and fatal snake bite in under a year, has prompted ghost stories sighting etc.
Naturally on a moonlite night I take the walk, and recently a terrified uncle who was sent out looking for me, to return.
Was proof of the deep fear for ghosts.
On the subject of going down and grabbing a bargain hotel deal at a 5 star joint in phuket.
My girlfriend replied"' too many died there, I not like ghosts, some have bodies not yet found maybe and might bother us, others just want talk"""......no not want many thai girl not want dead scare them"'
Childish maybe...but some nights on that country roadside when theres a brush of cooler air passing your face, and the bugs fall silent, you have to remind yourself "'theres no such thing as ghosts"'

BF is 200b.
There are no discos or girls on stage dancing. From what I have found out, is that if the girl likes you and goes with you, she may only want 1000b LT or be happy to stay in an air-con room with pool and some good food.
Had some Thai food last night and it was OK, same as anywhere else. Raining off and on, but now bright and sunny 10am Wed.
Going to stay another night just to have another look. Last night did not have the company of a girl, like I said I am a bit choosy and if I am going to share the bed with a girl, she has to have a something a bit special.
Dont get me wrong fellas, the girls and other people are very friendly as with most Thai people. This is a nice place to come and chill out for a while, but if you have a favourite TG, bring her with you.
Thanks DG for the story of 'ghosts', a bit more knowledge locked into the brain cells.

Where is Kabia? is it near Patong Beach? I was thinkin of going to Patong for a few days if I get tired of Pattaya or want a change of scene. But not if it's dead. Nice report.

I know Krabi very well, it is a more sedate 'Family' orientated place without the screaming hubub that you get in Pattaya or Pratong. You would be hard pressed to compare to either.
Krabi town has a couple of 'Ladies singing' coffee shops, quite good shows too when you are drunk, I take my missus and have a good laugh. Krabi Hotel has the better singsong place by the way.
Favorite place to stay in KT is Krabi Seaview, best showers in Thailand to my knowledge

For those who wonder.... Krabi is in the southern of part of Bangkok.... hence the section name where this thread resides.
I don't really get why anyone of you assumes Barracuda talks about the resort in the South of Thailand....

Elsewhere in Thailand but not being Bangkok - The resort (you already did  )
Pattaya - You came from there
Hotels - You stay in the Sabai Mansion
