Hi, I have 30 travel days. Arrive BKK Jan (3 nights Montien Hotel) then Pattaya (7 nights Sunshine Vista Apts) I am then free to travel anywhere. I am hoping to find nice/exotic beaches. Would like some night life & GF accomodations anywhere in Thailand. Wouldn't mind if you list 5 of your best beaches! Thanks for your time!

My current favorite Dew's favorite beaches in Thailand are, believe it or not, in this order: - Koh Samet (Sa kaew Beach) - Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui - Koh Chang - Koh Phi Phi (although TGs typically will not go here anymore) I can't argue, although I would add Koh Tao as a great, all-around, beach destination. As beaches go, Pattaya and Jomtien are crap. None of the above are "exotic", though.

Can you tell me more.... I think there is only one resort there right? What is it like? Food any good? Must be all a bit boring or not? Did you fly to Samui and get the boat?

There is one resort on the island - http://www.nangyuan.com/ I did not stay there for the night, only went over for the day (from Koh Tao). Actually, it is only a 10 minute boat ride from Koh Tao, so if you get to Koh Tao, you are almost there. The Lomprayah ferry runs the route Chumpon-Koh Nang Yoan-Koh Tao-Koh Phanghan-Koh Samui (and return). Dew and I took the overnight train to Chumpon ("boom boom class" - 1st class sleeper) and then we took the Lomprayah ferry to Koh Tao. 2 days for her scuba lesson, then we took the morning boat to Koh Nang Yuan. We brought our bags, as we were going to Koh Samui at 4:00pm. We rented a kayak and went off of the rocky beach. Then we went for a scuba dive at a site called Japanese Garden, just off the beach. Really good, it would be great snorkeling too. The beach is small but nice. There was only one restaurant and prices were high by Thai standards, but not by western standards. Food was just OK, nothing special, but we only had lunch there. Customers were a mixture of Thais and western and asian. I think this tiny island is very unique and very beautiful. If you are on Koh Tao, I suggest going over for the day or just spending one night there. I did not see the rooms, but from their website, they look OK. Some have aircon. There is no power in the rooms on the island during the day, so your afternoon aircon nap is out of the question.
