Hi Guys,
Any suggestions for a hotel or bungalow near or on the beach in Koh Phi Phi? I'm here a while so I'm hoping that it won't be too expensive. Need A/C though!
Please let me know.

I would like to hang on to this question! I have been to a lot of places in Thailand - but to islands has not been more than those outside Pattaya! A bit boring to be honest.....
And now GF comes up and says "we always stay Bangkok - no fun! I want go Phi Phi or nice islands!"
....... so there I am. She wants to go Phi Phi? Sure! Why not. So I try to find some info. Not that I can be called a cheap charlie --- but the prices I saw for accomodation there!! 10.000 B or more per night!! Yikes! Is that all there is? Nothing more "human"? Or is this island only for the ones who dont give a s--t about the bucks? Or are there more reasonable places but instead perhaps at a very lower standard?? Then no fun either!
What about internet? Available? Cant stay a week without it!
Little lady wants to go to some nice island --- and I havent got a clue to be honest. Where?!? Any suggestions from some bro´s more experienced in this field?

Jojje. I was in Phi Phi maybe 3 years ago and stay in water front bungalow for 1,200 BHT,, that was pre sunami.
Here is a link that shows accomodation from about 1,500 - 10,000 BHT.

It really is a very beautiful island.
There was several internet cafe's pre sunami so I guess they would be back up and running.

Thanks for the tip Mel - but I have been chasing around the different sites looking for a good place to stay at either Phi Phi, Koh Chang, Koh Sammet etc... but I must say that it is difficult to find out if it is good or bad and seems very easy to go wrong. Some hotels or bungalows can be found around 2-5000 B, but many prices around 10.000 and up really surprise me! Along with the general feeling of prices up in BKK in hotels with approx 20% makes me start wonder where all this will lead as Thailand grows as a tourist resort.
Once Spain, Greece and other sunny places were considered a good visit for their lower prices. That is not the case today and it is actually quite expensive. This could very well happen to LOS as well - unfortunately. Not that I can not AFFORD to pay those prices - I just dont WANT to!
So again - if any of you guys have been to a nice hotel at some island - please let me and the others know! I will take GF in feb to such a vaccation for about a week. But it has to be good and not some "back-packer" hideout! I think 5-6000 b must be getting you some good options? Or I am wrong there?
