I read on a web page promoting propery in Thailand that there is a ban on licensing GoGo Bars in HH directly due to the fact that the King has a mansion there.
According to the info it has been forbidden directly by the king himself.
He does not want the area to degenerate (take a bow, all) to a touristy spot with all the visiting clientelle which goes with it.
True or false. I don't know

At least it's the same story I've heard for 3 years from Thai friends and old Thai hands.
Didn't seem to stop "other" businesses from establishing themselves there. (Lolita's bj bar, some FS massage places and numerous beer bars).
Still a great little retreat if you want a quieter weekend/week without the overload of Pattaya.

True boomer, but you better bring-your-own-girl since the talent line up it quite limited in HH. Some barfinable beer bar girls, some FL (e.g. Hilton Disco, the only fun place in central HH in my books anyway...)

The story I get is that anytime anybody tries to open up any type of place that will draw a crowd away from the Hilton disco they use their political influence to get their permits denied. Sounds more true than the King's story.
