Thank you all for your concern! After at least five people asking me if I'm alright in Paris and a couple checking wether it was safe to come over, I did check the news on the net and discovered they've been having serious riots in the suburbs for the last 9 days.
Talk about 2 faced France... closest to disaster I went recently was last night when my beef fillet came overcooked in some 9th arrondissement's restaurant. Sent it twice back and finally waiter managed to bring a new decent one. In the same time 900 cars were burnt countrywide... Last week as well when we were told in some overpriced italian restaurant they had no Champagne... We started yelling and lighted up our Dupont about to set the whole area in fire to show our frustration but stopped when we noticed the Mercedes outside were ours...
During the same week, as brazen as ever, I risked again my life walking all the way from Lafayette to the Chambre du Commerce in the 1st arrondissement. Breathtaking stroll!! It's so beautiful we should shoot dead any suburban piece of shit wearing a cap who dares to step a foot in the area in order to keep it unspoilt. Not that there are many...Japanese and chinese hot tourists always welcome
Paris is awesome, and your most daring reporter on the field can confirm the 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th arrondisment are business as usual, although it's saturday and lots of suburban scum are expected downtown as usual on saturday nights.

lol! actually following this from priviledged parisian areas it's pretty funny as well... cops against suburban trash... kindda hoping they gonna start killing each other... it's saturday night and traditionally the stinkiest nights... the buggers come downtown and we sit back indoors, waiting for the invasion to resorb tomorrow... ain't getting much better though... new cars burning as I write...

Need to do that at least once to understand why parisians just avoid the place like plague over the WE. While strolling the street passing by herds of suburban arabs, one guy besides us screamed "Encule d'ta mere!"
Looked over to check wether it was adressed to us but it appeared the jogging wearing screamer had just spotted a friend across the walking path and that was his very personal way to attract his attention. I e for the buggers, the accurate way to greet someone is pretty much : "Go f*** your mother up the ass ". A very raffinate subculture indeed! Whites of the same estates look pretty much the same BTW
Read an interesting article a little while ago as well about the new suburban estate slang in France. Writer claimed their vocabulary is so limited people there now face a huge communication barrier when confronted to situation where a french conversation is needed. A very serious social handicap "

A bunch of goons set their own communities on fire after two other goons have been electocuted after running away from the police (!!!), a priori of any formal investigation. The nerve!
It seems that the French, who have been very quick to sympathize with the Palestinian cause during the latter's intifada, now have an intifada in their own backyard. History really does have a sense of humor.
Edit-in: to be more consistent with the spirit of the forum, perhaps AmoresPerros can give fellow BTFers some info on P4P in France? (Count me out.)

According to one research analyst I was watching on TV, failure to assimilate is the main problem. The analyst tried to explain that the majority of immigrants don’t attempt to assimilate basically creating a country within a country. Now, maybe they face some serious walls which make it hard to assimilate, I really don't know. But with the unemployment, poor housing, crime, and discrimination these immigrants are absorbed in, sounds like a fertile breeding ground for susceptible young minds to be brainwashed with visions of jihad. Maybe one could draw some similarities with Southern Thailand and Southern PI.

This is a very popular dogma with a lot of groups today, esp. the political left, but I am not buying it. It is the job of the immigrants to assimilate in the new country, not the other way around. The minority has to adapt to the country that's been gracious enough to play host to them; not the majority trying to work around the minority.

They "have to"? Is there some law that says they have to? Don’t the French don't have individual rights to do as they please?
In the US many schools have bilingual education, and that is even for children of illegal immigrants. The immigrants in France were accepted into the country legally.
Apparently France is intellectually backward country that does not respect the cultures of other people. That is not surprising since the French government has even banned such English words as “email” (no joke).
Here is what the conservative London Observer has to say:
“By last night, the ninth of unrest and protest, there had been 258 arrests, a dozen men and women had been injured and more than 2,100 vehicles burnt. The suburbs of Paris are ablaze and the fever has spread uncontrollably to Lyon, Strasbourg and Rouen - political mismanagement fuelling the rage of the most impoverished of France's citizens and belying its claim to be a modern, racially integrated society.”

Paris is burning, good. France did not give a shit about testing bombs in my Australian backyard of the Pacific a few years back, they would not do it on their own soil.
And when someone like Greenpeace tries to do something about it, they kill the people and sink the ship in NZ.
Gutless frogs, leaving it up to the coalition to fight terror (whatever your thoughts on it) and they sit back. France as a nation deserves what it gets and no sympathy from me.
BTW, what was that celebration by the English a couple of weeks back...............something about a Lord Nelson, Trafalgar ????
