Guys,
Am off to Lanka in mid-Feb. For a wedding (not my own) and will tie in some work stuff. And some golf.
Anyone got good experiences - nightlife etc; discrete places; web-sites - not a great deal out there (comp. to LOS).
Probably try for 2 weeks.

Sorry but I can't help you with the nightlife, but I just remembered a problem that I had there a couple of years ago.
My hotel wouldn't take my Natwest Mastercard, they would only accept Visa. And none of my cards would work in the cash machines.
So cash may be needed.

I suspect you'll be staying in Colombo; there you'll have
a couple of choices:
1) Visit a casino and find a high-class /high-priced russian
or thai working girl (no locals allowed).
2) Go to a karaoke bar and pay rip-off prices for drinking
beer in the company of nice female company - they're
NOT available for naughty activities.
3) Ask any taxi driver (3-wheeler/tuk-tuk) to take you
to the local brothels. These are all very well hidden,
so you need to get someone to drive you around.
Unfortunately 95% of the girls you'll find at these places
are butt-ugly.
Sounds like a great place, eh  You'll probably have more
fun playing golf...

Don't worry too much about ATMs. While some take MasterCard
only, others will take Visa.
Don't be too let down by my earlier remarks. It's not the best
country sanukwise, but it's still a really nice country to visit. If you
have time, try to get out of Colombo and
visit the beaches and/or mountains.

Exactly what I plan - friends wedding in Bagota(?) - for beaches etc. Keen to venture into the (dangerous?) North...
Checking the night life isnt no.1 priority - but it will have to be checked none the less!!
