Peter,
I think this will be an ideal place to post a message for German night life. It is now confirmed that I will have to stay 3 nights in Germany . What do you recommend ? Shall I stay in Hamburg , see the city day time and hang around bar during night? Any other place nearby ? Can I take a girl outside the city of Hamburg? Or do I have to depend only on local news papers?

Well well well,
dear Bimlee,
apart from what I already tried to explain on the other thread, very generally spoken things are quite different in Western Europe (my experience covers Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Britain of course, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland) - different, far more restricted than SE Asia.
I do not know the US - may be it is even stricter there.
As for Germany: Girls and women are not at all waiting to be picked up. Their interests are widely emancipated. many are offended if they find themselves treated or even looked at as an object of desire!
Certainly there is the general "Market" for love-affairs or one-night-stands in Discos, Bars, very much on local festivities like the Munich Oktoberfest. But that is not easy! Depends very much on charme and attraction of the man - it is real work.
Then on the other side there is the very professional sex-business. Redlight districts with brothels, very many "free-lance" models advertising in newspapers (many of those are NOT free-lance, but you can hardly say), clubs that advertise (with many east-european and also "exotic" ladies from LOS and other fine places). In this latter part of the business there is a lot of illegal stuff, like women from Russia talked into coming to the rich Germany to work in restaurants, finding then that their ID-cards/Passports are taken away from them and they are forced into prostitution.
It may be a bit better the more you get to the eastern parts of Europe. There are places close to the german border on the czeck (?) side leading to Prague for instance, where women prostitute themselves in caravans in carparks, dozens of them, and where also children are being sold. So it is not at all better, but very, very odd indeed!
But different, not as restricted as in Western Europe.
Once again in a nutshell: Nothing at all like LOS, either the normal love-affair/flirting thing with doubtful outcome or the very tough and rather expensive prostitution.
Would the chaps from other West European countries agree ?

as for some important words:
"Puff" or "Bordell" stands for brothel.
The walk-throughs are organised that way, that there is a "Kontakthof", which means a central yard or hall where the ladies offer themselves, and then you can also walk through the corridors and meet them standing in or looking through the doors of their rooms. This is allright to get a survey and make your choice, also to find out about the price-range and language abilities (most of them are pretty good in "French"  )
One more thing: There are two proper "street-markets" ("Straßenstrich" ) where the girls wait on the pavement - taxidrivers will have no problem to show you arround while for business you will need your own car. They are cheaper - less comfortable as well! Then there is the "Baby-Strich" in the central station area (if it still exists after the crackdowns of the new local government) - but beware: These are drug-adicts, HIV nearly guaranteed!!!

I am from India......living in the middle east for many years, have visited many places in usa & euorpe, except germany.
I am carrying my international driving licence. How is driving in germany , in general , means road sign , traffic behaviour ... police fine etc.

As for Hamburg, try the so called apartment brothels. Many prostitues runs their business in "normal" looking apartments. usually 2-4 Girls in one apartmet. How to find? Try the "Morgenpost" or so called "Mopo" newspaper. 2 pages full of addresses. Many of them has an answering machine, so you can check the address and their service over the tape. But in Germany; everybody spaeks german. Most of the girls comes from east europe and speak rather german than english. Don't try the street sceen around the train stations. All of the prostitutes are drug junkies- AIDS
