By now there are apocap. now bars in both cities. I think the first one was in hanoi. anyway ... do not base your choice of place to go on apoc.now. you may be dissapointed. it is not such a "great" bar. it is ok. great for vietnam perhaps.

Have been to VN a few times and am going back in two weeks (Hanoi/Halong Bay). The scene is WAY different from LOS. First off the women are very classy, but hard to get to. The ones avilable (usually working massage in the lower to mid-level hotels) are not as so. I asked a couple of local gents about the action and most told me to wait until I got back to BKK. However, I was in Hue a few years ago and the Century Hotel has an MP off the lame little disco bar. $10 for 1-hour massage. The girl was cute and a bit chubby, but was fun enough. She wanted $10 for a HJ. I declined. She upped the ante and brought in a friend. Wanted $10 each for I'm not exactly sure. So I declined again. Finished the fun but rather weak massage and had a beer at the bar. When another young lady, maybe a 6 or 7, joined me. She had seen that I had finished my session and seemed to know that I declined the extras. She informed me that the hotel allowed in-room service for $12-hour. I met here the next night and ordered a 2-hour session with her. For an extra $20 we got NASTY. She acted like she hadn't had it in years, I was just huge, or both. I thought about her for the whole last week or so I was in BKK before heading home. Short story long. You just never know in VN. Lastly, on a personal note: I have been in just about every Asian country and the women in Hanoi are hands down the best looking. Unfortunatley, they know it!!!

The best places to look for girls are Hair salon in Tran Hung Dao St. close Dong Khang Hotel in Q5..
You can call the Girls come to your hotel to massage for $10 per hour or $5 if you stop by the salon. Tip is extra. Most of the girls will ask for 600,000D for extra service ($40 per hour), but will go for 400,000D or less ($25). Overnight will cost around 750,000D ($50), but you don't have to paid the salon $10 for the outcall fee.
What I normally do is stop by the salon. Choose the girl I like then call her to my hotel, ask her take off her cloth, If the girls has a nice body, I will ask her to do extra, otherwise, I will tips her 100,000D ($6.5) for massage.
Other place to look for girl is MP in any 2 or 3 stars hotel. I like the girl in Hang Long Hotel at Tran Hung Dao. Most of the girls are between 18 to 25. I have been there serveral times, all the girls I met will to go to my hotel for extra. price range is between $50 to $75 for overnight. Again, you can ask her to take off the cloth to check her body before call her to you rooms.

It's not a happening place as far as nightlife goes. The night ends at 10 pm and the city goes to sleep. Massage parlors close at 10. My humble advice : go to Hanoi with an open mind without expecting anything. You'll enjoy this peaceful romantic city much more that way. Just take what comes your way. You'll come away with nice quaint memories. Don't fail to go to the lake, and make frequent trips to as many MPs as you can. They are plenty and cheap, and some excel in erotic service. But like I said don't expect anything extraordinary here. LOS is unparalleled. Don't forget this simple truth. Have a nice trip!
