I never left my wallet outside while take a shower unless I know the girl well, but Stil one of the girl I pickup from the local bar use my phone dial to oversea while I am taking shower, I did not kown that until I check out my room one week later. the phone bill was $12 US.

All that over $53? If someone needs the cash that bad, they can have it.
My trick at some of those NAM f*** hotels is to put my valuables on top of the highest perch in the room. A lot of those hotels have these huge bed cabinet things. When old vertically challenged girl is in the shower, I stash my stuff up there.
People need to remember that VN is not Thailand. The people are a lot poorer, and more desperate for cash. In the NAM you need to be on your guard when you are out partying. Plenty of young f***s on motorbikes out prowling at all hours of the night.
Also if you think the thai MIB are bad. Think about dealing with the MIR (Men In Red) on a bad night.

If you read the FR I don't understand why you would have so much problem if you had just got a good hotel to start with.
The hotel I ended up with would take the girls ID. Call up to the room before letting her go. Had a guy sleeping in front of the door and the door was locked.
I also had my luggage locked with a combination lock (no key lock that they might find the key to) plus had it cable locked with another combination lock to a piece of furnature. I think rather safe considering where you are? Would put anything of value in my bag and lock it up with the lock before having a shower.
Why bother with ST hotels? and if you do have to because of some problem with ID or something all I would have to do is drop off all my valubles at my hotel and walk 100 feet to the Luc Phuc hotel on the same block and spend the night with the girl with nothing for her to steal. Problem solved!!
Of course it took a couple of hours and a few days to figure this out but still?

Oh, I should add that while I was in the bar with Zebra a real hot chick walked in. She mentioned to me that she used to work at the bar but got fired as she had ripped off customers.
She said she used drugs and had stolen money form some of her customers so got fired from the bar.
Zebra did seem to point out that you do need to be carefull while in VN and not all the girls are to be trusted.
Of course I kind of think this applies where ever you are you can never be to safe.

A few years back I picked up a couple of young girls on the corner of Suk4 with the plan of a 3some.
Well we got to my room, and was on the bed trying to get a BJ, they were just f***ing about and clearly not going to give me any action when I felt a hand in my shirt pocket. This was their deal, they pick up drunk fallangs make out they are going to f*** your brains out, then quietly rob you.
Well I caught them red handed, so what should I do with them? they were both crying and lookng scared so I made them empty their pockets took all their money and tore their ID cards in half!
Nasty fella aint I, but I bet they don't do that scam any more....

Man, you are braver than I am. I probably would have given her about $25 worth in VN and tried to convince her to leave. Would have chaulked it up to experience and momentary poor judgment. Moral of the story for me is trust no one when it comes to money. I have gotten ripped for small amounts by BG's a few times when I have been drunk and not quite careful enough but I contain the risk by putting all but what I plan to give them in the room safe as soon as she goes to shower or whiz or whatever.
