BME 1 is not popular as BME2. BME's girls are almost 100% for sell. They will try to ask you 50USD at first, the if you bargain will come down to 30000 kyat or even less than that. But there are always a few cuter ones that will not go for anything less than 40USD, but if you are yong and fit, then there will be discount as usual.
The palace, Empire, JJ, Kiss Channel ect are all very very dark. You can hardly see your own fingers. Its better to get a private room and send all the girls in the room group by group for private viewing in the bright light.

An acquaintance of mine just came back from Yangoon and his accounts of the unjaded women interested me, as that is what I often seek. Many women who work p4p in Bangkok are in my estimation jaded, so that except for certain exceptions I hunt the peripheries. I too enjoyed Cambodia for this very reason. I will have to talk with him again for more specific info, but the women he was mentioning seemed to be pricing at between 800-1000 Thai baht equivalent...... Air Asia seems to be flying there cheaply now. And yes, he also suggested changing dough on the street, not in any gov't institution.

Yep... booked a flight there for end of December. As of the 500-1000bht brackets for girls it seems pretty right? usually pay 15 to 25$ in yangon, and the trip after that report nothing noticeable had changed.Nice place although I almost OD'd on some Viagra copies there...
As of BME1 it's kind of an after hour place, gets crowded after 1am and very busy in week end nights, even a place to hunt for foreign birds if one's into it.

if mid level pricing is around 50 US$ than all hotels but The Strand should have a room for you. I switched on last trip to the http://www.grandmeeyahta.com.mm/
serviced apartment, almost right across Traders Hotel, 1 BR appartments from 45or 60 $ and girls feel LOT more comfortable going there than in Traders. No ID check nor police hassle outside, and they can leave on their own.
Yet you might as well check hotels outside that very central area, which is extremely worn out. Around the lake and in some more residential areas you'll find as well a bunch of cheap 4 to 5 stars and the surroundings are significantly nicer. It won't change much in term of distance to clubs as entertainment is scattered around Yangon. Just google for "Yangon hotels" and they should all come up.
Besides if you don't appreciate internet full premayments bookings, just know that most travel agents downtown will sell you those same rooms for similar or even cheaper rates. Yangon for tourist is very much a no-headache city.
If you're looking for cheaper price range and want to keep the hotel guest friendly, I'd guess avoid the back packer hotels and go for 2 to 3 stars catering to asian customers, APK might be one of them, not sure abt the name. Those are supposed to be very guest friendly.
As of Hankamazon price quotations, we seem to be talking about the same rates, just keep inmind that while one would get around 1000kyat to the US$ about 18months ago,lately it's between 1300 and 1350.

I plan to visit Yangon and check out the scene there. In my timetable, I shall do 06 yearend countdown in some nightclub in Yangon. Are you going to be there too ?
This is my first trip to Myanmer. I shall book flight ticket and hotel soon. The Grand Mee service apartment you mentioned indeed looks very good on the website. Their website did not mention the rate of 1-bedroom, but the price range you mentioned is fine.
Do you send them email to make booking ? Or do you buy hotel vocher from local travel agent after arrival ?
I prefer to book the hotel room well in advance than shopping for the lowest rate upon arrival.
Again thanks for the very useful info. BTW, are you very familiar with the P4P scene in Yangon ?

Another suggestion of a place to stay is Micasa serviced apartments near the lake. Really nice place which charges $35 a night. Downside is that it is on the outskirts of Yangon but an easy 10 minute taxi ride into town.

I find myself in Yangon about once a month at the moment due to work. Very different to Bangkok but has a charm to itself.

I guess it's a good idea to book in advance, especially in that season. I actually did email GrandMeeYatha or whatever it's spelled and I doubt they ever replied. You can try though, or better call them.
As of the travel agents, I actually only used them to buy flight tickets (RGN-BKK-europe return including 2 stopovers in BKK is cheaper than BKK-europe-BKK in Y and J) but there's one just across GrandMeeyatha, which means also by Traders and they sell those vouchers at least for the hotels)
As of NYE I'm afraid I'll be gone before, booked a ticket over Xmas but might change the dates, PM when you've confirmed your trip. I'm familiar with all the clubs I wrote about in the report only. If you need more information have a look on the ISG, they have a rather informative section onMyanmar (link somewhere above in this same thread I think)
