Koolbreez's Burmese friend was an English teacher on holiday break who also ran a travel agency. We met him numerous times before Koolbreez took off with him for an evening of fun and games.
So, it was not like Koolbreez just took off with some Burmese tout he had met 5 minutes before.
Besides, while Koolbreez was with the Burmese friend, I was with the Burmese friend's sister...

Lets clear a few misconceptions up. Myanmar is full of scams. Out of the 4 bars/clubs we went to, 2 tried to scam me.
The first bar tried to pad the bill by 10,000 kyat. My friend simply told them if they did this he would not bring anyone there in the future. They made the check bin right.
The second was at one of the fashion show bars. How they work is the girls perform a kind of fashion show parading around on stage in a lame coriographed routine. When one interests you, you buy either a boa, or flower, and present it to the girl on stage. These boas, and flowers range in price from 2000 kyat up to 25,000 kyat. It's kind of like a bar fine, but with a different twist. If the girl likes you she will leave with you, if not then you are out the price of the boa, or flower. It's called flower ringing. The one I flower ringed at the first bar liked our taxi driver better so I was out 2000 kyat (about $1.70).......lolol.
Anyway the third bar tried to scam me on a flower ring when my friend went to the toilet thinking I didn't know what was up. I told my friend what happened, and the cost was immediately erased.
In the negotiations at the whore house, we almost left twice, starting the car, and starting to drive away before they agreed on my friends price. I never said a word the whole time. He didn't want them to know I was American, or they would have never came down in price.
I got value for my money, and my friend got a night out, his first away from his wife in over a year.
