I've been to Laos a few times and prefer now to fly direct to Luang Prabang. My first night I was comin' back to my guest house at about 21:00 (ish) and I was propositioned by 4 girls (2 on a motorbike!) several men! and after I sat down at a corner bar for a nightcap (Beer Lao), the 2 chaps there asked me if I wanted a girl!
I never bothered to take up any of the offers or to ask how much even but I s'pose it would've been cheaper than LOS.
In Luang I didn't see any GoGo Bars, massage parlours, kareok no (overt) pick-up bars etc. Maybe somethin' to do with it bein' a world heritage site with loadsa Wats, monks etc.

I just come back from Vientian. Almost every TukTuk driver ask you if you want a lady or gras.
There is a Hotel called Mekong Hotel. They have a Nigh Club (ground floor) and a Karaoke (first floor) with 200 working girls. IMHO with very very beautiful girls. Picked up one for 1000 THB, showing me the city and then later for some fun in the room. Totaly about 6 hrs. The Night Club close at 23:30.
TukTuk driver can bring you to places where you pay only 300-500 THB. But didn't like the girls. Mekong Hotel has plenty good looking girls. Go there for fun

Laos happens to be on my destination list for February 05.
Couple of ques: Were you a guest of this hotel?
And, if so, was it allowed to bring the girls back to your room? I hear the Laos govt. officials are very strict.

Guys, I'm frequently in both VT and LP.
Unless you stay in a small shitty guesthouse you absolutely cannot bring girls back to your room.
In VT there are many many available girls but you must go with them to a crappy short-time guesthouse.
In LP there aren't so many girls but if you hunt you will find. Some very cool hotels in LP, such a shame they are not guest friendly.
I speak good Lao and get a lot of action in VT, but when in LP normally have a break and f*** a Farang girl instead as there are plenty in places like Hive Bar.

The Mekong Hotel is a nice one. I payed 1000 THB per night and came with three friends. All of my friends liked the hotel, the rooms are nice, big and clean. They gave us the new rooms.
There is a night club and Karaoke. Both close at 23:30 as I was told. So get their early.
From the night club and from the karaoke bar you can take the girl directly to your room. Just walk up the stairs, nobody from the hotel receiption will see you or ask you.
First time I was in VT I slept in the -was is called Laos Palace-, the most expenisve Hotel for over 100 US a night. They defently do not want you to bring a girl up to your room. So I cheked out there and since that I go to the Mekong Hotel.

I fancy spending some time in Laos as the girls have a more chinese look about them.
I have read that it is a no-go to take a girl back to your hotel room, however, it seems if you stay at the Mekong or a couple of other karoke type hotels it is OK to take the girls back to your room.
Is this correct? Also what are the normal rates 500ST/1000LT this is assuming the currency is based on the Thai baht.
Any tips appreciated, TIA Gus

hi lads a word of warning...
it is illegal to have a girl in you room if u are not married to that girl..if they find u with a chick the fine is $1,000 and chucked out of laos.........
i know it sounds a bit crazy but it is true..that IS the law....i allso know of several farangs that this has happend to.
there is fun to be had laos but u must take care!!..
