New trip to Yangoon...
First time in quite a while I didn't feel like coming back to BKK...Yangoon... slow going city with buildings on the verge of falling but greeneries all over cared for in the most perfect swiss style...
... suite in Shangri la (Traders Hotels) for 100 $ a night, six windows at the 18th floor and put to the city's scale it almost feels like on top of the State Tower in Bangkok... great view over the city, the Shedawadong (sic?) pagoda,the river, the port, the prehistorical cars...
...still no bikes, the stadium and so much greenery I start to wonder if I really don't care for a tree. More trees from the living room's window, I turn over and the view is on a fresh shaven pussy spread open on the sofa, her friend's acting shy besides. If you exclude Sofitel/Royal City park view, ( think Spasso in Bangkok in way tackier), girls are a bit younger than in BKK and not used to go with westerners... expect limited sexual prowess and only vague understanding of the needs to use condoms....lots of different ethnic origins around and two of the most gorgeous girls I met this time had very similar traits I couldn't relate to any ethnic group I know: fair skin and rather sqared face, thick lips. It seems as well I haven't been to the hippest disco (BME2 in International Hotel), but Army's day closing over the WE plus a bad combo of hangover and food poisining had me sleeping early for my last night and I couldn't make it t BME2.

Drink list is usually lousy.
DO AVOID the french buffet in Traders hotel, not a single french dish and mostly very poor quality. Complimentary buffet at the 21st floor for suite guests is quite nice though, with awesome cheese, one more burmese hidden secret
I've never felt threatened in Yangoon, but beware of Chalerm style locals. A small fight erupted between 2 young locals and a group of asian in Sofitel's disco. The burmese guys were invited outside the club by the security. A tiny bit of blood came out on each side but the burmese guys wouldn't leave it there. They parked their car in the hotel driveway just by the door, came out holding some stick or knive only partly hidden in the pocked then talked in a mobil phone. A second car quickly joined in the driveway, no plates but a sport's line very easy to recognise in the Yangoon automotive landscape.More young lads came out. Hotel staff just let them do. We moved away but I would have hated it if they had been waiting for me.

I went a year and a half ago so this info could be out of date. Some advice I learned while there.
Don't change money at the airport!!! very bad exchange rate. I think I got something like 450 Kyat to the dollar but found out I could get about 850-875 to the dollar on the street or even at my hotel!!!
There are no ATM's, OK can live with that like Cambodia just get a cash advance on the credit card. When I went there was also no Visa or Master card except at the high end stores selling stuff like gems so you can't even get a cash advance. Not even at a bank and I tried. I wanted to extend my stay but had to leave as I ran out of money. Would take like a week to get some wired to me so gave up.
I forgot the street but it had many discos on it in the main part of town. Christmas night I went down to one and went in. Cost 1100 Kyat (higher as it was Xmas).
I was the only tourist in the place. Lots of cute girls around. After every few songs they would have like a fashion show. These girls would come on the dance floor and sing and dance while wearing Santa hats wearing nice dresses (made them look very hot!!). Sometimes singing Merry Christmas.
The guys in the place would dance in a group with each other while the girls would dance also in a group of girls?
A local young guy came and sat with me to talk. Wanted nothing from me just wanted to talk. Told me if I wanted one of the girls to sit with me he would get her for me (should have but the night was young it was only a little after 9).
While finishing my third beer the music stops and the lights come on at 9:45pm!!!! Was told the law was that the clubs have to close by 10pm (what the f***?). Oh well, there were some cute girls in there. One I liked and tried to talk to but she left.
I left and walked outside were I found a taxi. Asked him if there was anywhere open. He said yes one place just outside of the city so got in and said lets go. Off we head.
Ended up at another disco (name I don't know) taxi wants to wait for me (should have told him to leave). Enter the place and it is bigger and has more people then the first place I was in. Also it stays open till (I think about 1AM) something to do with the fact it was outside of the city so the rules were not the same.
Meet two girls there who were OK looking, one had a cute face. While trying to decide between the two I pick cuteface (wrong!!!). The place closes so we leave.
We head back and I am not sure why both girls are coming with me Oh well. Back to the Hotel were the taxi wants more money for waiting for me so get that sorted out then into the hotel.
Hotel was OK but it was run by the Gov't (try to avoid this if you can). The hotel charges me $10 for each girl to go up to my room. What the f*** I only wanted the one girl (this turns out to be a good thing in the end)
The other girl goes into the bathroom while the one I liked and I get down to some fun (not much fun in the end). After a while she just gets up in the middle of sex and she is done? I have not even finished yet? What the hell. Also she might have had a cute face but how might I say, she either had a bit of a belly or a bun in the oven if you know what I mean. She heads to the bathroom while the other one comes out.
What was I to do? Already paid $10 to get the other one up to my room and I haven't even finished (it is Christmas) so tell her I will do her also. Much better in bed and at least I get to finish.
After argue about what to pay them but settle it in the end. Both were nice enough girls but the ones in the first club were hotter looking and I should have grabbed one of them.
As far as guides had no problem finding people willing for a small to fee show me around, and some were very good guides with lots of knowledge about the city. They really like to talk to tourist.
I found the people very friendly and nice were ever I went, and would like to go back again. Few tourist I found, also felt very safe.
There was no Internet when I was there. Was told for a rather large fee like one or two dollars you could send an e-mail if you needed but that was about it.
Lots of stuff to see and the city is very interesting.
Enjoy your trip if you go but check up on the latest info about the place. I found the girls to be fairly hot looking. They like to put this clay like stuff on there cheeks that seems odd but Oh well makes them seem to look very different.

discos closing time seem a bit complicated, did 3 trips to Yangoon and not sure the closing times have ever been the same!
Last I remember was 11pm in most places and 1am in JJ, Sofitel and -I heard- BME2. Prolly quite a few more clubs and bars around just asking to be discovered

Given more time I think I would have had better luck, some cute girls and a laid back kind of place.

Even easier IME to get girls in Yangon than in BKK, younger as well, no stupid 20 y o age limit in the clubs..., nice suite in Shangri La for 90 or 100 bucks a night... really too bad working there isn't easy or it'd become my second home (suposing I could figure out where's the first one) Open the WSG link and see several guys have had similar experiences there... might be there over NY if kindda fed up with BKK... which is unlikely...

I was supposed to visit the place over Christmas, actually, with a few days in Bangkok. However, I had a situation at work (can't leave my job in December) and instead opted for Hong Kong and Bangkok last week.
Myanmar (Burma) is very much high on my list; I've got to see that Shwedagon Pagoda and also Bagan temples up in the north. If there is some sanuk to be had - great; if not, no problem. I am sure the place is worth it regardless.

checked on my laptop and found that 7or 8 months old report on Yangon, funny stuff:
Seven nights trashed in a row…to mellow the jet lag… to mellow a not so sober preceding week in Europe… typing in the Traders suite on the laptop drunk again…wasted… no girl in the room for once… gave up after the first one tonight… not that usual out here in Yangon… forgotten third world paradise… trying to straighten my thoughts out… what on earth happened this week???

I drank the disappointment away than reached BKK in the morning…checked in Ascott, got out, got laid… worked a couple of hours than got a blast in this naughty corner of heaven called Forte… than some after hours club out on Petchburi… than on a suspicious feeling left my friend in Petchburi and headed to Sukhumvit for late and kinky pick up…walking in a haze…than a mistake I hadn’t done for years…picked up a lady boy …mostly intending to f*** her mouth and big tits but things went kinda wrong and soon she took some huge scissors in the Suite’s kitchen threatening me for very unclear reasons… I threw a couple of elbows at her face until she dropped the scissors and bled all over a brand new white Mugler’s shirt…security than cops came over and I became disturbed by the lady boy outrageous show in the room than the lobby…rather going to the police station and settle it for a grant or two I gave the lying bitch 6000b than everybody moved on with their sinful life…I could get some sleep…

Lotsa choices… lotsa very readily available choices…. Stopped at 4 birds in a single night but easy to beat it…Burmese aren’t jealous when U pay the ridiculously low prices girls and clubs are charging… really the most painful might be the walk of shame in the hotel… coming in at 10pm or out at 9am with two obvious hookers in Shangri la isn’t a particulary pleasant experience…security was stepped up recently and girls must be checked upon entering and they won’t leave alone because of police hassling them outside if they do…that’s Myanmar you’ve got to remember… no hotmail either nor yahoo nor mobile phone except if you’ve got a regular contract with Thaksin’s AIS in Thailand it seems… my 1 2 call sim card wouldn’t work… gmail does work… better open an account before you move to Yangon if you intend to stay in touch with the outside world…
Anyway I might in the future opt for more discreet lodging than Traders… some decent serviced apartments downtown might do the trick…
As of the clubs:
“2to5” is unfortunately closed, BME1 seems to be the latest opening club in town at the moment… some time between 2 and 3.30…
Same freelancers style nightclub as BME2… with some commercial fast tune techno late nights and some live band earlier on… think CM2 in BKK with drinks a half the price and twice the number of girls on your lap… can do … Girls were all OK with 20 000 kts ( 15 $) on every deal there... so was I
Garland clubs are as successful as usual… JJ seems to have the greatest amount of ladies, with at least one hundred doing the catwalk… did a couple of them… not the worst…drink prices are awesome… as low as 1000kt (75ctsUS) for a weak gin tonic in Palace and Emperor and likely half that amount for a beer… no wonder why visitors’ livers are having a hard time out in Yangon… Double pricing and short changing are rife though… watch out or let it go… not quite a nightmare…and bring dollars… much better rates… I lost around 4 percent changing euros…
Again sex was largely boring… GFE might be there but as I’m doing fine in Thai while understanding nothing in Burmese I still like it more in BKK… Yangon bargirls don’t speak much English…still a couple of them were cool to stay with… and inside… I’ve kinda been trough tougher hardship…
Work was cool as well with a weak kyat at the moment and people in Yangon rather pleasant to deal with… one of the funniest moment of the week was upon reaching some expat friend’s street after a very wild late afternoon drinking session in the Traders’ club lounge… he wants to introduce me to his mixed blood daughter and calls her in the street… I see the girl holding a woman’s harm tighter while he’s insisting on her coming over… wonder what is wrong between them… than he realises that isn’t his daughter… “but that’s for sure the youngest one coming over”… he calls a younger kid who’s walking our way… yet she doesn’t quite come to him either… wrong girl again…all this in a utterly run down street in one of the most worn out and isolated capitals in the world where we’re the only two western faces… weird… I finally meet both daughters sleeping in his apartment and he seems relieved to positively ID them than we catch a cab to Pioneer disco…cab runs out of gas on the way… Myanmar ya know… We reach Pioneer, get a 1 litter Gordon bottle for 29US$ and I have the relatively rare pleasure to watch someone drunker than me for a while… until my mate just falls asleep on the club’s floor…wearing short and sandals… we’re businessmen ya know… first time in Yangon I see girls walking away when I approach them… we must have been really miserable … anyway after a while mate has disappeared and I’m chatting with some upper market girl who’s also elder so throw her phone number soon after and pick up a fresher ho upon BME1 closing time… sex was Burmese style I guess… kinda can do…
