DAY 9 - Fade to Black
I’d read about theft problems in Cambodia, and unfortunately I’m lugging my laptop on this trip, which besides being expensive, is essential to my existence. It doesn’t fit in the safe, and I don’t want to give it to the front desk, so I hide it by wedging it in the pipes under the bathroom sink.
With that secure, I set off to complete the Grand tour of temples. I like the out of the way temples – at some, I have them to myself, at least for several minutes – and it’s very peaceful. The destruction is almost as amazing as the places themselves. I’d like to see one of these temples restored to its original grandeur.
Even though the temperature is sweltering, the pathways to these secondary temples are nearly always shaded, giving shelter from the sun, but not from the onslaught of aggressive vendors at each stop. Every kid selling anything asks me where I’m from, then recites the capital city and population of my country.
I try mixing it up with one kid, saying I’m from: Norway, Argentina, Australia, Egypt, Cuba, but he get’s them all. I’m tempted to reel off the names of some central African countries, but it hardly seems fair if I don’t know the answer myself. I finally stump him with Mongolia. Ha! Takes that! Ulaan Baatar.
As a consolation prize, I tell the kid my real country, and that I’ll buy something if he can name the city I was born in. Boom, just like that he reels off ten Canadian cities including mine. The kid gets an A in geography and I get a brown Angkor Wat t-shirt.
DriverGuy tells me that I’ve completed the Grand Tour, and asks if I want to try for a sunset at Angkor Wat again. There are thick clouds on the horizon so the day will probably just fade to black, like the two previous days, so I have him take me back to the hotel and agree to pick me up at 9AM tomorrow.
Down to Pub street again – eat at Angkor What? Restaurant, then walk around a bit. The streets just behind Pub Street have a bit more character, but no discernable “action.” I venture further off the beaten path, but the only thing I see are foot massage places – my feet are killing me – so I step up to one with cuter than average girls out front and volunteer.
The least attractive girl leads me through the front room, filled with reclining leather chairs, to the back room (the kitchen) and seats me on a wooden chair. A group of Asian men come in after me, and they get to sit in the big chairs up front. WTF? She fills a tub, washes my feet, then takes me by the hand to lead me upstairs, hmmm.
The upstairs lights are dim, and the small room is partitioned into three mini-rooms by curtains suspended from the ceiling. Each section has a thin mattress on the floor and not much else. I say, “You know I just want a foot massage, right?”
She smiles and points to the mat.
The foot massage is pretty brutal, but I suffer through it knowing that it’ll feel good when it’s over. There is some giggling in the ‘rooms’ on either side of mine, and I wonder if they’re just ticklish, or if there’s more than feet getting a rub-down over there. My masseuse and the girt next door carry on an animated discussion for several minutes, and then I hear the other girl say, “What you name sah?”
Even though my eyes are closed, I can tell that this question is directed at me. I turn my head and open my eyes. OtherGirl has partially opened the curtain so I can see her. She’s cute, and has a nice little body. She’s also still massaging whoever is over in her stall, but she keeps talking to me. Her English is very basic, but there is no mistaking her meaning when she asks me where I stay.
“I stay at Angkor Star.”
“Is nice hotel?”
“You want to come see?”
She smiles and nods, but says, “Work me finish 11.”
“Meet me at bar in hotel after 11.”
Cool. Looks like I’m going to get some Cambo action after all. Massage girl didn’t understand our conversation, but OtherGirl fills her in afterward and there is a lot of giggling going on as my foot massage wraps up. Smiles and nods as I shoe up and step into the night.
The Angkor Star bar is actually a small casino, and has happy hour every hour – drinks are free all night. The only patron besides myself is a very sad looking Asian businessman, pulling on a slot machine handle. I keep myself amused with video poker and a Gin and Tonic to kill off an hour, but I’m getting severe “nod-head.”
OtherGirl shows up right on time – looking cute in brown clamdigger pants and puffy sleeve yellow top. She orders a drink and I try to explain poker to her but it’s no use, so we go upstairs. She’s amazed by how big the room is, and in truth, the rooms here are very big – double the size of the TL basic rooms - maybe triple.
Do the dueling shower procedure, then I wait for her on the bed. She comes out in a towel and pours me a drink at the desk, then brings it to me. Her skin is very dark in contrast to the white towel. I take a few sips and she motions for me to roll over. She says, “I massage you.”
I lie on my stomach and enjoy the feeling of her straddling me. She’s light, but very smooth, and I can feel the heat coming off her body. She starts the massage at my shoulders and slowly works her way down my back. It feels good, very good, and that’s the last thing I remember, before everything fades to black…

Damm Good FR writtings AFM !..... next year with several months off I will venture over to Angkor Wat to se the ruins and play with the waitresses and massage girls..... it sounds like Seim Reip P4P is gently under the wraps.... be their boy friend for a few days LT etc..... aint so bad if only there for 3 days...... ButterFly on Bro ! you'll get your stunner LT..... travelin around and outside of the normal spoils Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket will get you that happy #8 face and body without the heavy burdens,.... say a nice jr or sr uni girl with no issues/kids/drug probs..... Keep up the great FRs, it only inspires us to write more patiently..... aka my 1 minute briefs

I didn't buy a package tour for Siem Reap, tending to be a "do it myself" kind of guy - the expenses were something like this:
Flight: 10,000 baht
Hotel suite, 3 nights: 3000 baht
Private driver, 3 days: 2000 baht
Angkor Wat Pass: 1500 baht
Total: 16,500 baht
I think I did alright compared to my memory of the package deals I saw - you could trim it down a bit more by scrimping on the room and driver, or taking a bus instead of flying would trim it a lot. The hotel "suite" was only 2 dollars more than the regular room so I figured what the heck...
