A quick search on another forum blocked in the UAE indicates there is not a lot. There are a few reports of MP (PRC, Indian and CIS) but it looks like it would be a hard thing to get into for a casual visitor without a local contact.
The only recent reports on bars say that rock Bottom and the Golden Tulip in Muscat have no action to speak of.
There was certaily nothing going on in Salalah last time I was there. It's a nice place though.

Greetings fellow Omani Forum brothers!
Having been one week in Muscat I thought it about time to begin sourcing for the city's dark side!!
Wednesday night I put my head into the Grand Hyatt Muscat Safari bar in downtown Qurum - here I must mention the band on stage and in particular the Asian female singer who has superb voice and looks.
Less impressive were the limited number (I counted 10) of obvious PRC p4players - nothing above a sober 6 in my view but a group of civilian looking partying Filipinas by the dance floor looked promising especially the one in an alluring pair of tight denim shorts! Brrrrr!! Preliminary price enquiries from the PRC contingent indicate Muscat p4p suffers from an inbalance of supply verses demand resulting in quotes of OR 80 to 100 from creatures one would easily overlook in the downtown golden triangle that is Bur Dubai.
Research on bars and clubs in Time Out Muscat indicates the Holiday Inn enjoys a "late night scene" so will make an effort to get down there shortly.
All in all its my initial feelling that to serve my wants I might do better to source for a temporary girlfriend - but given the recent experience of brother and fellow Dubai Forum buddy SteveStx's work colleague puts me off.

I think your best bet is to fly to BKK on a regular basis, Tubby. Only 186OR return with Oman Air. If you're working in Muscat you should be able to afford that, eh?
It's easier to find pork sausages and Leffe beer than Thai girls in Oman.

Apologies all - the band in the Grand Hyatt are almost all 100% Canadian including Pamela, the delectable female lead singer - must have been a combination of beer goggles and wishful thinking!!

in 2007 there are a lot of Korean Girls in Holliday Inn Hotel ! a big choice of Draft beer and Girls in the Hotel Pub !
ST was calling about 50 $ ! Cheaper than in Korea !

Another night like last night and I'll be on Dark Knight's case to sort Oman its own dedicated section.
Hit the Intercontinental Pub Thursday for beer and a looksee - arrived 'round 9.00pm to a sparsely populated bar. By 10pm things were looking good as troups of Tanzanian and Filipnas entered along with expat couples and begab to ply their trade among the boozing single male expats.
Prices are high down here - one reasonable looking Tanzanian quoted OR100 for the night or OR50 for a quick one.
Have not been inclined to partake as a trip down to Thailand is on the books towards the end of November where for the prices quoted in Muscat one might enjoy the company of three of four of Bangkok's best.
Keep your peckets up!
