After 40+ trips thru Narita ---finally made a 4 day stop in Tokyo- on way back to New York from BKK- My reaction----
I am glad I went ONCE --- to get to the Shinjuko Hilton from Narita took two hours- I understand for $175 I could have saved 20 minutes by taxi- but the traffic is not to be believed on the "highways"- it is just impossible to move more than 3 miles an hour- on 2 lane roads sometimes stacked 4 high-
I might add that 3 days was plenty to see the fish market- assorted shrines etc- but of course I went to scout out boom boom ---with, to me, the sexiest girls in the world.
You can't go from Bangkok to Tokyo- it is too different- I can sum it up. In Thailand the Thais can't go to the go gos- the Eden Club soi 6, Pattaya---------- in Tokyo - there are such great sex areas but they are not for non Japanese - the touts will talk in Japanese to guys in front of me- guys behind me to come in- I might as well have been invisible. There are pink salons - where the girls dress as schoolgirls - where they have fake subway cars where you can feel them up- its kinky- its me - but I only know from the internet- the signs are in Japanese- and the only thing you can make out is the price and pics of the girls there-in. There are guys who latch on to you- talking in English- but when you tell them strongly they can't get you into the places you want to go- they don't argue.
Then too- the price- more than New York. Escort services ( which often have non- Jap girls ) are $400/hour- and to watch a lousy strip show is over $200 with drinks. It does just not compute after Thailand. 4000 baht is high end long time- and my TGF no longer works at Baccara because I send her $400/ month so she can work in a hair salon in Ubon. That would be one hour in Tokyo and my heart was just not into it. I had boom boomed twice a day- done Eden- Devils Den- soi 6- so for 3 nights I looked- I wished- and I traded my yen back to US dollars when I left.
A quick story- to show what a closed society it is----- my TGF fell off her motor bike right after I left- and needed $100 for hospital- no problem said i- its an emergency- i'll send western union today. NOPE- in the whole country there is not ONE- in every third world backwater there are tons of western unions- not in Tokyo/Japan. Not concerned- I found a single branch of Bangkok Bank on computer - good she has an account there. Took passport- $100 in yen- and just to be safe- 3200 baht- took subway for 40 minutes to get to that part of town- and spent 30 minutes trying to find. Walk in- give this very pretty Jap girl my TGF account number- and say I want to transfer money. Nicely she asks for my resident card- even shows me a picture of what one looks like- I say I have yen- or baht if she prefers---- need resident card says she- I am a resident of the Hilton says i- no good says she- After 15 minutes I leave and send money on return to New York.
Ya know- Thailand is special- they even have Western Union- and the red shirt/ yellow shirt problem- Thais don't want to kill Thais- and they certainly don't want to kill farangs that bring baht- can't say that about crazed Muslims trying to destroy New York.

How bad was that motorbike accident? I was in one on Samui years ago with my TGF at the time (a nurse) and for both of us to go to the emergency room, her to get stitches and x-rays, bandages and medicine it was like $50 U.S. Must have been a bad one. They even asked if I wanted a receipt for insurance purposes and I just laughed and said no. I don't know that I've ever spent $100 in a Thai hospital and I've been to Bumrungrad several times. Sounds more like the Buffalo fell off a motorbike and died.

If you want experience Japan (without P4P), next time get a connecting flight through Osaka and spend a few days in Kyoto visiting the historic sites. You can get there via a train from right inside the Osaka airport. I would recommend the Hotel Granvia, which is located right over the Kyoto Train Station.
