Just wondered what the quickest time anybody had got married on their firt trip to LOS? I talked to a guy who did it within 48 hours, but f__k he regrets it now.
I would guess less than 24 hours.

Hello all
Don't know about LOS. But I have a good friend of mine from the air force that got hitched to a girl in vegas about 12 hrs after he met her in a bar. He was marryed at one of those drive thru wedding places there. That was in 1988 and there still married now.

Well hmmm I guess I am considering it...
I have been to LOS 3 times this year and I'm seriously thinking about it.
It was usually an hour or two before some BG had my dick in her mouth...
It would have been sooner, but well I like to get a little sleep first.
The last trip I did Koh Samui, BKK & Cambodia, epic...
Anyway met a little hottie and bought a new 6 bedroom house in Cali for her and am travelling to a teak hut in Kamphaeng Phet in 2 weeks to meet her family. The damn visa got bolloxed so I got a congressional going on the embassy.
BG's have no frame of reference for the amount of effort all thsi takes.
So my question is...

I doubt that anyone could get legally married in 48 hours
Being a foreign citizen, you must go to your embassy & get an affidavit signed by them stating that you are in fact single (un-married)
once that is obtained, it must be translated into Thai & notarized, then taken (original & notarized translation) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who will issue a document that can be used at the Amphur office where you wish to get legally married
I'm sure any marriage that occurred within 48 hours of arrival was merely the religious/traditional ceremony & nothing legally binding, but I bet it cost him a dowry

Cool I am not completely stupid though. I have an excellent attorney which has prepared a good prenup that has been tested several times (by others including some local notables in the Bay area) and has held up. So hopefully that will help....

Oh yeah and I'm not getting married right now. I am having my congressman work on the tourist angle. Seriously, why, Why, WHY??? You have a seriously good thing going now - you can go to Thailand, you can have lots of fun, you can work hard when back home, and play hard when you vacation in LOS.
Why do you want to give that up? I'm sure she is a sweet girl, but invariably you will be transforming a sweet girlfriend, into a 'wife', and you will be assuming the responsibilities for supporting her family, as well as herself.
Don't fool yourself into the 'foolproof' prenup - who cares! It's not the risk of losing everything (if you have any personal wealth worth saving, you would already have that protected so well you wouldn't need a prenup), but rather when/if the relationship goes south, you will be going through months if not years of coming to terms with it, living together, or apart with the emotional scars that this entails. Goodness forbid you have kids, in which case are these issues not only manifold, but you will also be messing up a young life in addition to your own.
Yes, that's all worst case scenario - but you should consider that, as well as the advice many others will undoubtedly give you (including reading Private Dancer, as LY suggested), before making this step.
Depending on your motivation, it may or may not be worth it. If your 85 years old, sicklish, and want to go out with a bang - by all means; if your desire is to have 'free sex' without the need to travel far away - then you're barking up the wrong tree.
