Thanks for the book tip. Both books mentioned have good reviews and I ordered both of them. Might look at others by the author as well. I recently finished reading Thailand Fever (gave to a female Thai friend), Hello My Big Big Honey (gave to a fellow BTF member), and Private Dancer (kept for myself). I recommend all three highly. For those that have read the book; the film rights have been picked up now... http://www.manager.co.th/Home/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9500000075490 Best-selling Thailand crime thrillers set for Hollywood By Manager Online 28 June 2007 18:13 June 27, 2007 LOS ANGELES (AFP) - The best-selling Thailand-based novels of British author John Burdett are poised for the big screen after being snapped up by a Hollywood production company, it was reported Wednesday. Film rights for Burdett's "Bangkok 8" -- featuring incorruptible hero detective Sonchai Jitleecheep -- have been purchased by Millennium Films, entertainment journal Daily Variety reported. No further details were available but director James McTeigue, who directed cult film "V for Vendetta" has been lined up for the movie, which may be the first in a series, Variety reported. Burdett is a former Hong Kong-based lawyer who has forged a successful writing career. "Bangkok 8" was published to acclaim in 2003 and is the first of three detective novels set in the Thai capital.

thats cool! I read it about 2 years ago and prefered bangkok 8...not to knock tattoo but the first one read faster to me..both would make a decent movie if made well... but guys think again selling it to hollywood and on an international level....the rest of the world isnt as consumed with Thailand as us bro's and that must be considered...A major appealing factor to me as I read was that I knew the places and things john wrote about.. I think the story of bangkok 8....jacked up cobra's and hot lady boy introduction might play out better on the big screen... either way I would lay my money down but living in LA and trying to break into the writing biz I can tell you its a hard sale....especially if the director wants location shooting....expensive for return.... its not an animation movie or romantic comedy that can losse at the box office but make it back on airline sales..maybe DVD if it is made well....but it is gonna come down to the director and adaptive screenwriter.. MHO!! atl

In case any of you gentlemen missed it: there is now a third Burdett book feat. Sonchai Jitleecheep as the main character. It is entitled "Bangkok Haunts". Quite enjoyed it. Better than "Bangkok Tattoo", IM (ns) HO.

I read Bangkok 8 a couple of years back. Very interesting, and hopefully, it gave me some insight on the way Thais think. The ending was kind of lame, though, IMHO
