Anybody have any information on tattoo parlors in BKK? I know 'tats are cheaper than in the U.S. in many Asian countries and was wondering if there are any in BKK?

there are lots of them. from the flea market (weekend market) Chuk Tu Chuk, MBK, Sukhumvit Soi 5, to makeshifts tattoo stalls along the street at nite!!!
had seen this parlour ( Tattoo by Jimmy Wong) at MBK and Soi 5. from the photos, the work and colour looks good. but i'm not sure if the artists own work!!
its definitly cheaper as compared to USA and Europe, but i doubt the artist work and the hygiene.
BTW, i am always fantisied by Guys Artisons' work, have u seen them??

a lot of people i know who got peirced or tattooed prefer the big shop in "the mall" at ramkhamhaeng, as cheap, hygenic and a big variety of piercings and other stuff!

i have had a few tattoo's in Thailand and was VERY impressed by the hygiene.
i remember the first time i had some done,a girl i was with took me to a friend of hers who was a travelling man and happened to be in Patong at the time.
no needles or machines for him,he used bamboo stalks soaked in alcohol.
used a knife to make a point and just dipped the bamboo in ink and procedded to prick my arm and gave me the tattoo.
i imagine this was the traditional way before modern day science took over.
people who have seen photo's of my tattoo's would be hard to tell the difference between modern and traditional practices.

Just to add to Chrisboy's post: At one time --and this may still be true -- Jimmy Wong's was THE place to go for the hip Thai crowd; pop stars, models, etc.
He was supposed to be the best.

most tattoos i've seen done in thailand are garbage.
I don't think i'd risk getting one there unless I watched him work on a few customers first.

have stated before all about them,but as i'm trying to be a little more mellow towards the newer members,i will repeat.
just had the names of the girls i have been with tattooed on my upper arms.
all done in Thai script.
nothing fancy really,no colourful designs.
but a constant reminder of many wonderful women and wonderful times i enjoyed.
