Being a foreign citizen, you must go to your embassy & get an affidavit signed by them stating that you are in fact single (un-married)
once that is obtained, it must be translated into Thai & notarized, then taken (original & notarized translation) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who will issue a document that can be used at the Amphur office where you wish to get legally married
I'm sure any marriage that occurred within 48 hours of arrival was merely the religious/traditional ceremony & nothing legally binding, but I bet it cost him a dowry
LY I beg to differ, I personally witnessed a mate (an Aussie guy) start out in the morning to do all the legal stuff, and by mid afternoon was legally married to his now Thai wife. I think about 4-5 hours in total to get everything finalised. Just goes to show where the hormones are invoved just about anything is possible

this was a stipulation in GlosterBoy's initial on this thread
had he spent more than a day with her prior to his decision to marry ?
just the process of finding out what you needed to do would take half a day I suspect
Nationality might weigh a bit on this too, considering it's up to how busy the particular Embassy/Consulate is
Also, if they got married in Jaang Wattana, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is, would have have helped considereably with the time constraints

i agree totally with Harry, you gotta ask yourself WTF do you want to marry for, is it really love will really really honestly, you gotta think that if she gets all mangled up in a car accident or is burnt horrifically in a fire are you still gonna love her come what may if she wasn’t cute or sweet or couldn’t pull the hair on your arms or she didn’t have that skin colour that glows in the morning sun coz if it's real love you would 100% and thats the only reason to ever think about marriage. Love aint lust.
or is it your lonely and sad, gutted at previous failed relationships or anything that might be related to not personally being able to handle / enjoy life fully being alone. If this is the case then you got issues that won't get solved by marriage and can only be sorted by you alone.
Also noticed in other posts you let your girlfriend walk over you in public, in my experience thai girls take any of these signs of weakness and exploit it to their fullest capabilities and rip you to shreads emotionally and financially, they only respect strength coz it makes um feel secure. if you can't stand up for yourself don't go near a thai girl LT.
So if it is love good luck if not, just keep enjoying all the heavenly glory of los

Why ?... haven't we all been burned good financially in here by a marriage in the past?... Why ? when we know that would cut us off of any P4P trips to Thailand and the Phillipines for the rest of our lives... Why ? so we don't sleep alone in the western world planning our next P4P trip...... Why ? reduce our sexual freedoms we posses in far of Asian lands.....Just Why ?... marriage made in Hollywood by Disneyland..... Why would we give up Pattayaland ?..... frick !! it cost dearly our lives....Marriage $$$$$ house. kids. cars. kepping up with the Jones's, malls, shopping.... just look at our working Bros and our realtive as to our fathers and brothers etc.... frickin western world ways rip our bank accounts to shreads..... I aint gonna start all over again when Im 65 when she dumps me for my house and Caddy.

LY, no it wasn't his first trip, but my mate had no idea of the process, but his TG did and she wrote down everything they had to do in order and then claified her list with a friend and they set out, I wasn't really answering the original post, after reading your post I remembered what my mate had done and thought it is possible to get married in one day.
You are right that if no-one of the party didn't know where to go or what to do it would take more then 1 day. It was just lucky my mate's wife knew what to do to get it achieved in about 6 hours.
So to acheive marriage in 24 hrs in LOS you would possibly arrive in LOS in the evening, go some where to pick up a possible wife, go back to hotel room, bonk a few times, fall in love, propose to her, ask your TG if she knows the process of gettting married, (she would have to know the process to get it done in 1 day), then set out first thing in the morning to start your wedding.
