I presume they use similar scanners as used by airport security, not only do they x-ray they also highlight certain types of material like organics.
I got stopped hear in the UK the other week, the customs officer knew exactly which case and where to look, the problem was I had brought back a quantity of lemon grass and other Thai cooking ingredients, as a seen on a scanner it could have been any type grass.

A 12 bottle case will get ya busted for sure..... 6 bottles won't.... Just wrap em with your clothes from each other. Dont declare em !
Just say your a drinker and on party holiday !! your a boozer on a bender and hate cheap Thai Mekong/Serria etc.
For the effort hope your gettin laid always or free drinks for your stays over in that bar.

most of time the time no problem. I once got stopped in terminal 1 when I did have about 20 bottles of wine in my luggage to stock up the fridge in my bkk apartment.
the maximum for wine is 2 bottles and 1 bottle of champagne!
i was sent to the customs office which is between terminal 1 and 2 for a redeclaration with hefty penalty. unfortunately I never made it to the customs office as the exit signs for terminal 2 had a magic draw on my eyes. so I decided to walk straight out through the terminal 2 exit instead, where of course I wasn't checked again.
by the way I do have the impression that the terminal 2 staff is more relaxed than the terminal 1 staff which is the thai air terminal. got checked many times in terminal 1 already but never in terminal 2.

I'm bringing in two bottles of Champagne, as I read here that that is hellishly expensive over there. I'm a bit loathe to pack that in the suitcase, so was going to carry it with me. One bottle was for New Year's Eve when I have a first meeting with a dating site girl and the other bottle was for another dating site girl the week after. Will I have to pay duty on one of the bottles, do you think, or should I just take a chance on not being stopped?
