I tried for quite some time to get a visa for my TGF to visit in USA.
I wa living here first time, and it was time to go home. Before I applied I went by myself to speak to Consular Officer. He explained the process. And as said above, he explained that ulimately they were looking for solid proof that she will return to Thailand. As he described it the Royal Family has it pretty good here, so they would return, Maybe if she was a doctor.
He also said that repeated rejections make future request harder, so wait for best shot. This was about 9 months before my repatriation. But I fgured in a year she wasnt going to be a member of the Royal family and wasnt going to become a doctor.
He also said that in this part of the world we rely on Japan and australia. So he said if she could get a visa there, and show she complied with it (went and returned) it might help her chances.
Ultimately I went for the Fiance visa ( I thought that was K1). He said everyone gets apprroved for that. It is single entry, 90 days. I applied in November, and it was approved in March.
She came in April. When it expired she stayed for a while as an illegal. But she wanted to be able to visit home.
So, based on that we got married. 9 years later we are still married and now living back in bangkok.
Bottom line, my advice ? Get the fiance visa. They cant force you to marry her. And obviously she can leave before 90 days.

I read some idiot actually tried shipping himself because it was cheaper than buying a ticket. Damn near froze in the luggage compartment, then had to face criminal charges.
But, maybe your girl can get a visa to Mexico, then enter the US illegally?

K1 is the best route and the reality is that there are alot of things you can do with it once she is here. Just a have a good immig atty. I just happened to know if anyone is interested. I will be doing this later this year if all goes well. If all your paperwork is good, K1's get approved pretty quick. I did one on my ex and it only took (he he her name is Tuk) four months from submission to final interview. I had my attry and I think that helped.
However, K1's are not cheap, but not impossible either. Than again, there really is no other way, esp for an ex-BG (which will not be an issue even thought it technically should).

Well yes, it is bullshit to some degree. But the reason for the rules is that there has been an extensive history of Asian women being brought to the US to work in prostitution rings. Many of these women have been very badly exploited, living as virtual slaves. Unfortuneately, those who want to bring a Thai women back for legitmate reasons have to suffer for the previous actions of others.

Most of the decisions about who gets a visa are made by Thai employees in the US Embassy. Thais are notorious for discriminating against other Thais in their own country. If you look at help-wanted ads in the Bangkok Post, it is clear that discrimination is legal and widely practiced in Thailand. And Thais are also notorious for not being to think for themselves and only follow orders (without looking at the specifics of each situation).
To further complicate things, there is much political pressure in the US about sex tourism in Thailand, and US citizens can now be prosecuted in the US for illegal sex activities (or even intent to commit illegal sex) that occur in Thailand. This is fueled mostly by a strange coalition of the left-wing women's movement and the some conservatives. If even one prostitute gets a tourist visa and the media finds out about it, the US ambassador will probably loose his/her job and have their career ruined, so there is little incentive for them to take any chances.

Those are good points. And illegal importation of Asian women has not been restricted to prostitution rings, but have acted to fill sweatshops as well, working for far below standard minimum wages. Women are promised lucrative jobs and a promising future, then must work unreasonable hours under poor conditions to pay off their passage. Subjected to culture shock and fearing deportation, they remain silent and are easily exploited.

I brought my TGF here on a K1 visa in September. It took her 6 mos to get an interview at the embassy. She got the visa the same day as the interview. I did it myself but their are services in BKK that can do the paperwork for you.
A random TG was sitting next to us at the embassy and was refused a tourist visa to the US. Her boyfriend was a rich older farang in Texas. She told us they denied her visa but would not say why. Check out visajourney.com

It's been done. My friend Pae came to Las Vegas to visit me a few months ago. She provided proof of employment, an account, and she owns property. Success on her first attempt. I've been lurking for years, you guys are great and have provided some excellent insight. Will be posting more, going back to LOS next week, to Phnom Pehn and then Siem Reap for a piss-up (Jan 29) Two Dragons and back to Bangers. Still green but have had good mentors.
