Hey, I try to find things to keep me busy during the day, and I always succeed -- last time, I even found 'work' fixing a couple of Macs, and almost covered my trip with 2 days of work. Then again, this next trip, there's always plenty of places I missed last time, so I'm making up for that - also, I have a follow-up on the general checkup up Bumrungrad to do, get minor dental work done, explore the real-estate market, shop for a new mobile, get some new shirts and slacks made,... as was pointed out, if you are in it for more than just banging girls, there's plenty to do. In the old days I used to go for the "Three until Three" - consept. When bars where open until 02h00 am we were in bed by 03H00 am. The girl stayed with me untill 15H00. She would go off to be in the bar by 17H00 and I would go to Beergarden Soi 7. The day was gone, problem solved. Between 09H00 and 15H00 there was a lot of sex and the girl was welcome to use the room service. I usually had a burger and a Heinecken. Some girls are happy to stay unti their afternoon shift w/o going home first, staying in a nice hotelrom with a friedly guy who is reasonably behaved and with predictable needs seemed like a better option to them. I used to stay in Hotel Montien just accross from Patpong. Good location for everyone involved.

Thx all, and yes JR, I forgot 'daytime activity' was indeed a good one for the FSE... I especially liked the suggestion exploring different neighbourhoods by hopping off different BTS/MRT stations... I keep coming back to Chinatown for street and people watching, never tired of roaming around there, the same goes for the river/khlong boat-trips. Staying for a few days in BKK I'm generally okay finding daytime activities, but occasionally fall into the dreary sukhumvit/shopping-mall strolls... and as I love BKK NL when compared to other cities and areas in LOS, I'm pondering over staying for a longer period in the city. But that raised my question: I could easily fill 2-3 weeks with nights out, but what the heck will I be doing in the daytime for those 2-3 weeks; I have some pointers now... fixing Macs is not a bad idea too

....Flying club, joy ride, planetarium??? Must be missing the right guide... any details? The planetarium is right beside Ekamai station. The flying school that I've visited (didn't actually take a ride though) is introduced here: http://www.thaiflyingclub.com/linkairportultralightchonburi.html They have microlights and other aircraft with flying lessons and joy rides available. There was another one that I went to behind the Panya Hills Golf Course (I think?) but that didn't offer flying lessons or joy rides at the time but there was a wee, forward aircontrollers birdog Cessna, circa 1960s! Cheers Edit: Almost forgot, I did a traditional Thai massage course at Wat Po (takes about a week), good place to meet and "play" with many other nationalities!

I'd recommend the Michelin guide book, I like it because they give stars, from 1-3, for the various sights. Except for the Vinamek (sp?) I have seen all the stared sights now. As an added bonus some of the sights you can visit during the day and then visit a close by massage parlour. Over by the Chavala on Sri Ahyatthuia (Sp??) is the Suan Pakkard museum with was very good, then right avross the street is Chavalas and next to that s CP2. I live is a suburban sort of city here in the States and not much goes on here. I like BKK a lot just to walk around, eat snacks off the sidewalk and watch whats going on all around, its just so interesting what happens on a sidewalk there. China town is a favorite of mine, I love walking down back alleys just looking around. Until this last visit I had never visited a Carrfore or Big 5 or others of those stores, but the last trip I did. Lots of good buys on Thailand tee shirts and stuff, plus good eats and lots of girls to look at. I like to go to Starbucks and have a green tea frapachinno, just sit there and read the the Nation. If I wake up early I like to go to the train station and just take a train out of town and see something new. You know yu can go to Chaochongsao (sp?) for 26 baht round trip, the ride is interesting and its nice to visit a city without foreign tourists walking around. And if you want to down load digital pics to a CD, it pays for itself to do it there rather than BKK.

BobFiveHead I'm interested in getting more information on these cities just outside of BKK that are cheap to get to. Have you seen any other places and are these mostly residential areas? I have taken the public boat north to the last stop or Nonthaburi and walked around the small markets and houses, but it was limited and not much nearby.

Gminn03, The problem is there isn't much information on places like Chaochongsao, if you look at the guide books I think the LP and Footprint guides give it one paragraph. But you go there and its a nice sized city, that for me, is filled up with interesting things to see. I have the PN Atlas (280 baht) and they have a decent map of Bangkok and the surrounding area, and shows the rail lines. The beauty of taking a train out of town is that they are fun and you can sit there and eat and watch the landscape and they are pretty frequent so if the place sucks you can get out pretty quick. On my last trip I spent the night in Phanom Sarakham which is about 40 km out of Chaochongsao, so its not really a day trip from BKK. But after checking into the Phanom City Inn (which itself is worth the trip as it ozzs (sp?) with sin) I walked around town, and it was like the locals had never seen a foreigner before walking around. Everyone was real nice to me, girls saying hello, and girls inviting me to drink with them on the sidewalk. The vendor were all cool, everyone was so nice. It was just a fantastic experience, yet it occured so close to BKK and in a city that I had never heard of until I arrived there. I love BKK, but it just doesn't have the same feeling as I experienced a bit further out.
