What happens if I fly in on a frequent flier ticket? Is that somehow included in the taxes/fees for the ticket? I'm sure they will get it out of me somehow. LS

They said it would be included in the price of the ticket after Feb 1st 2007. In fact I have guests with me at the moment, they bourght their tickets before the revised policy, and actually received a call after the announcement from the ticket agent asking for the additional surcharge. It'll be interesting to see if they get charged again at the airport when they leave.

Even as a frequent flyer (i.e. comp'd tickets) you still have to pay taxes, insurance and various local airport fees. Since it is now the airline's responsibility (*) to collect the departure fees, you will most likely get dinged at check-in. (*) Nice way of AoT to fire most of the employees collecting departure fees, *and* collect a higher fee. No wonder AoT is the most profitable organisation in the region - you'd figure with that kind of profit they could actually do the job right? Of course, the same question could be asked of any western government and the taxes they levvy.

I love the fact that the extra 200Bt is apprently to pay to fix the airport problems, yet the rise was announced before the new airport even opened. Could it be that AOT knew what a crap job they had done and knew that they would need to fix things up? First time for forward planning, I'd say.
