Liam,, I'm not 100% sure of the rules,, but under Australian law 1 year seperation makes it a permanent/legal seperation.At that stage you should be considered a free man,,, unless Sarge wants to put your shackles back on.

Liam that depends if you were married in Australia or not and pray not as aussie alimony laws are quite severe on men. I understand that to apply for a fiancee / spouse visa you need to be in a de-facto relationship; i.e. living together for a period of time or having a child together or a long term sustained relationship. Migration agents will prolly advice you to get the fiancee here first on a temp visa and then apply within Australia. As stated earlier by other mates here, there are a lot of docs to submit in the application and they must be translated into English.
Berry-OS5, the wifey lubbed accompanying me to Melburn mak mak (and Port Douglas too), when she was here last here, living with me in Sydney for several months. We enjoyed the cafe scene and social life, and every time I go there on business trips she gets pangs of nostalgia about the place.

All good stuff!
After spending the day at work trying not to think about this too much....yeah right! I am leaning toward a tourist visa, seams simple enough and can work on gathering all the documents while she is here. Unfortunately working holiday visa's issued to Thai nationals, which allow up to 20 hours paid work a week have been suspended indefinitely.
I have perused the Thaivisa website, a lot of posts from guys that have done the leg work themselves, nothing really about agencies. I found one website for Easy Visa in Pattaya. I emailed them whether they had any recommendations for similar service in Bangkok. I was basically told they would not recommend any bkk based agencies as they are all a pack of thieves.

CD relax man, you've been given good advice by the brotherhood; remember the 1st Q you will be asked, if you apply for fiancee visa, is to prove you are in a de-facto relationship; i.e lived together, being married, have a baby etc... If you are not confident or unsure how to handle the application process, get a migration agent, he/she will provide you with a list of docs needed, both for you and your teerak (her docs have to be translated into English), then the agent will get her here on a temp visa so once she is living with you in Australia the application will commence. I understand it'll take less than a month to get a decision. I'm sure she can wait 4 weeks at home before she's can get lawful employment. No big deal. I'm sure all the other bros can take you by hand and show you the way step by step. Easy does it.
