You never know.....the article I read said they were going to reduce the hops and 'improve' the flavour more in line with Heineken.......the implication was to capture more of the foreign market.....I'm not sure the local Singha connoisseur will appreciate his fave brew being tampered with for farangs......hence the Classic may be the answer.....certainly everyone agreed it was a nice drop....I may drink it tonight if I'm out.....see if my head really can stand up to a good session.....
OH...yes I also remember a mention of the % decrease...but the bottles the other night still said 6%.....unless they have to use up the old supply of labels....
The market share was always going to fall with competition though....when I was first here it was Singha or Khloster...and Khloster shortages were common in Phuket.......and surely all they've done is bring the traditional Singha more in line with S Gold.....pointless....

What about Singha Gold? ÝTo be honest I've started to prefer that over regular Singha for the last year or so...
I've heard only pussies drink Singh Gold. That's just what I hear, though, nothing personal.
(I actually used to prefer Singh Gold too, but now I usually order Kloster because I like to watch the bargirls lovingly tear back the foil and open it for me.)

Doesn't Phuket have its own beer now? I recall drinking it and it not being too bad (different, anyway), but I've burned away some brain cells since then and may be confused.

I've seen many an advert for Phuket Beer....never seen a bottle of it....but when I was living there was way before that came around.....Singha Gold came out during my last 6 months there.....1991....but as you say...brain cells are fewer

yes Phuket now has it's own beer.
would it come as a surprise to people to know it is called 'Phuket Island Beer'?.
i found it very smooth and developed a taste for it.
most places stock it,but you rarely see it advertised.
i like Singha and apart from drinking 'Chang'?,when i was up country,these were the only 2 beers i touched.
i know a lot of the guys like Heineken,but in the UK is not very well thought of these days,and i would'nt touch it at home,let alone in Thailand.
but then again,i only ever drink bitter at home.

if You are from Australia - why order Fosters???
C'mon - in LOS there are some nice beers, but Singha is IMHO the best of them.
