hzink , tbh I had a few brews before posting that , I was probably trying to be humorous , I failed.
I spent a lot of time in North Sumatra a few years back.
In particular around Lake Toba/Samosir island.
The people of that region are from the Batak tribe , I believe them to be Christians in origin.
The p4p scene arounfd the lake is quite decent, lovely women , inexpensive. In Medan there was a large scene also , based around massage parlours and dodgy brothels. I never felt unsafe in Sumatra , that may have changed today though.

My experience has been that Thais, being Buddhists with a culture where 'sanuk' (pleasure) is an integral part of life, are naturally sexier and far less inhibited than Filipinas, who have the baggage of the Catholic Church, and burning in hell for eternity for sins of the flesh to contend with!
I put this theory to the test repeatedly while I was living in Hong Kong. ÝWanchai girlie bars are usually staffed exclusively either Ýby Thais or by Filipinas, though a few have both (at least that was the scene in 1998-2000). ÝInvariably, when you bought a Thai a ladies' drink, she had her hand fondling your crotch in a minute flat, with comments like "Oh! He wake up!." ÝFilipinas very rarely gave such service, and if they did it was only after repeated ladies' drinks, which in HK are the price of a BKK barfine and more.
My few experiences in Angeles City is that there are quite a few "Cherry Girls" around. ÝThese are girls who hang out in bars but rarely or never go with customers. ÝI'm not an expert on the Filipino scene, but my experience has been that they don't actually tell you they're Cherry Girls until you want to bar fine them at 2 AM, having plied them with ladies' drinks! ÝReal bummer! ÝSuch creatures simply don't exist in Thailand. Ý
Add to that the rich Thai culture , the fact that Thais have tremendous pride in their contry and consider Thailand the best place in the world, and that Thai cuisine is one of the richest in the world, while most Filipinas desperately want to leave their country for more affluent places, and that the food is very ordinary, and the decision is a no-brainer.
