Before when big Singha bottles were sold at Grace Coffeeshop it was such a good value that one did not think twice. As for pitchers, I do not remember having seen any, but I did not open my eyes as I am not after locally brewed draft beer.

Finally....a post where we all can agree. LMAO! When the need is to bring everyone together, start talking about beer. Yes, I agree German beer is far better than any large label brands in the U.S (I am from the U.S.). There are micro-brews that are quite tasty, but expensive. Beer by the pitcher is available at resteraunts and other establishments such as pubs. As far as at Karokee, beer bars, MP's & brothels go, no beer by the pitcher in these places. Some exceptions might be found, but after 2 years here I have not. As we locals know, it is quite a bit cheaper to be a whiskey drinker in LoS than it is to be a beer drinker. This totally blows my mind, as in my home in the U.S. the majority drinks beer and not whiskey. Glad we can all agree on something....BEER IS GOOD!

So5 - I'm sure that you know VB is an abbreviation. It should be known as VFB - VERY EFFING BAD! That indeed tastes like what Singha tasted like on my firts trip to LOS in the early 90's....SHITE! I'm glad that it's improved. Its a shame there isn't a South Australian Coopers available anywhere...or is there? seubeu - Like Yurune, I was trying to forget the apple flavours of Leffe as well - thanks for nothing bud! I'm soooo looking forward to the first Klosters when I lob in April.......

It's part of my job responsibility to put some torture to the lucky bastards that reside in LOS, just as they occassionally like to torture us non-residents with casual remarks like "I just tried a new beauty last night". All we can do is dream. Although these two things are not equal I know that it's human nature to crave what you cannot have. So it's the best I can do. And my offer to lug along some good brew stands if anyone takes me up on it. Limited mainly by my carrying capacity. Of course in return I expect to be introduced to some new lovely denizens of LOS.

I remember many nights in Angel Witch (NEP) it was so cold that I had to step outside to the seats along the "balcony" to warm up a bit. This was January!

If anyone is willing to bring beer from the States here to LOS on their trip, I would be willing to pay for it with interest. I am dying for a Sam Adams (with Hooters hot wings) or a Michelobe Light. St. Paulie Girl would be excellent too. I am sick of Thai beer and need some real beer! I don't like Heineken, and don't like the crappy imported Budwiser and Miller Light sold in the Lotus stores. I need some real beer worth drinking!!!!!!!!! Anything....Anything at all.

Well, it seems that after so many years, the torture is over for Belgian beer lovers living in BKK. Check http://www.belgian-beers.itgo.com/home.htm . They announce 50 varieties of beer (ok, it's a low number by Belgium standards...), available in their showroom on Soi Sarasin, including the most refined of beers, the trappists... I will visit soon and report.

Wow, that is good news. I can't even imagine the cost. Had a decent Trappiste ale at bar around here lately and they charged me $9 (about 400 baht). This was for 9 or 10 ounces. It was nice but I didn't order a second. Where is Soi Sarasin?

Well, for such heavenly drinks... they are brewed by monks after all. Think of it as being a spiritual indulgence ! Soi Sarasin goes from Wireless to Rajdamri, just behind Lumpini Park.
