I would echo anothers brothers post for verdigo on top of Baan yaan tree off silom.. I think thats the best place in bkk..
if you were at a beach I say a bbq with fire spinners but bkk vertigo is very nice..

Thais appreciate the good things in life and if they can be enjoyed without paying exorbitantly for them, they appreciate them more, just like anyone else.
What they will despise, if not look down on as a terrible waste of money even if it is being spent on them, is for someone to pay for dinner or some other form of entertainment, an amount that they personally would consider as over-the-top.
If it is the gift of an occasion of fun and enjoyment that he wishes to give her, go for something a little less luxurious but something which she values and can cherish as a memory.
And if the expenditure doesn't match what you would want to consider as a really good gift, then give her the difference to compensate yourself.
The fault here is looking at something and assuming that since it costs so painfully much, then it's got to be really good.....and thus appreciated by everybody.
I remember my children's first few birthday mornings opening presents. Delightful.
The expensive toy from Uncle or Aunty so-and-so was completely over-looked and they had days and days of pleasure out of the big card board boxes and the paper bags and wrappings.

Tips for a successful romantic date in BKK/LOS:
1] Prepare the evening with a nice Spa treatment [only for her as a gift or for both]...aromatherapy/jacuzzi with flowers etc
2] Do a little shopping and buy ONE gift that you are sure she will like [does not have to be expensive, just something to show that you always think of her]
3] Take her for a dinner in a place where you are sure she will feel ok....Vertigo is nice, but for hi-so and folks familiar with that kind of food/service/setting....the avarage TG [not BG], would feel intimidated by the whole thing.....a dinner in a nice but more local taste will do great... for instance, Kupu Kupu Barong in Ratchada/Ladpraow or the Leelavadee in Raminthra or the Good View or the Khin Lom Chong Saphan by the river....
4] And finally, f*** her brains out!

I once barfined a girl from Soi Cowboy and took her to the flower market in BKK. Girls love flowers and I also had a pretty good time. Never seen so many damned flowers. It was about 3am in the morning but still very romantic.

I think two vases (we broke the first one getting into the cab to return to the hotel) and an armful of flowers cost about 10 dollars U.S. That included flowers for her to take to the temple the next morning for Buddha. Imagine the hotel girls surprise when we walked in with our arms full of flowers. I even brought the cute girl at the reception desk a flower and a little something for the hotel desk. Maybe that one simple act is why I probably could have had her at any time just never took the time. Now I am sad.

I must disagree with you my man....of course there are the just wham bam thank you mam's but I when you find a good one I like to entice the whole scenario..call me a pussy if you will.. but when thinking of all the chicks I banged in Thailand the ones that stick out in my memory are having cocktails, dinner, laughs, and then banging her brains out!!!!
