ÝSimply sign up for your own taxi tour of BKK, on a Wat by Wat basis, or go down to the Chao Phrya and take the extremely cheap river boats, which regularly ply their way north and south. Ý
In six hours of being a tourist, you can accumulate enough photos Ýto make it appear that you have been out and about for six days. ÝAlso, be sure to take lots of shots of your hotel's pool, because you can always say that you spent several hours per day lying around it.
If that sounds like too much work for you, you could always ask your forum brothers to e-mail you a photo or two, put them together into a slideshow and wow the relatives.

If this isn't too personal a question... what kind of reaction did you get from people here in the past with your previous Thai holidays? Ý
The reason I am asking is, I have heard other guys in here saying on numerous occasions that if they as much as said in their home countries that they were going to LOS that they would get nasty bitchy comments etc. Ý
Please tell me people here aren't the same????
(ok I don't mean oma and tante Bep get the uncut version, but are other people (just people in general) also so narrow minded?
(p.s. if you are stuck for "see!!!!-I-really-didnt-stay-my-whole-holiday-in-sex-bars"-type-digi-pics, I am sure I can find a few wat po's - grand palaces - floating market type pics for you, LOL)

It's not a personal question X, no problem. Most of the picture's I made 2 years ago were decent (clothed) pics of the BG I was travelling with for 2 weeks. Certainly some other pics were made, and I showed these to my mom, sister, relatives, co-workers etc. It is just a to alien a concept for them (most people who not have been involved in Thai P4P) to understand.

From all the people who know I am going to Thailand only a few trusted friends know I will partake in the P4P action. They have either been in the same situation (one used to be a sailor) or love the stories I can tell them (not inflated, look what I am stories, just what happened out there).

Yes they are! This stems mostly (I think) from the misconception that the sex-tourist is a fat, bald ugly git who can't get laid in his home country. Plus the general idea that the sex-workers are all slaves, indentured labor. While it exists (indentured labor) it is mostly confined to Thai brothels up-country where the girls are kept drugged up (not everywhere, it happens at some places). This is the picture painted in the west by so called reporters (female) who want to liberate their Eastern 'sisters'. And the general populace just laps it up.
When one wants to talk openly about what really happens in the farang oriented P4P scene, they have already formed their opinions and you are branded a sex-tourist who is just out to defend his horrid actions in Thailand. So for me, I do not discuss it outside a very small circle of good and trusted individuals. And of course a haven (and heaven  ) like this forum.

i actually went full force a head in tackling questions of thai trips holidays.....I even took my 14 year old daughter and did the absolute straight trip/holiday..let her armed with zillions of photos for the enquistive school report, see only the wholesome side......even took her to pattaya....and sheilded her up at the royal cliff....met my wife to be...and heard her read off the report of pattaya being a little coastal village going gold coast(an aussie beach high rise similarities)...the only thing she saw was a german man with a girl 30 years his junior......and the lights of soi-cowboy from a taxi...She did have cultural and educational learning and experiences....and learnt one lesson that thais are rich in happiness...money isnt the source of it!...I used that trip and others that emcompassed romantic destinations...a marriage..and wholesome images to win my battles here ..as mickey said they just dont understand, prositution incidentally can be traced back to the cuncubines...4oo years ago in thailand....The money and effort we put into our trips does more good than harm.

interesting stuff MickyK, very interesting. ÝI sometimes find it difficult to define what is a "typical dutch reaction". ÝLike when reading posts in here earlier from (for the sake of arguement, let's say Brit guys)... then I kinda get the impression that British people, not all, but a sizeable chunk, are very narrow minded on this score. ÝThen I try to think "OK, so how are the general Dutch public on this score".... and I kinda had the feeling they were different (less narrow minded perhaps), but at the end of the day, what I see here (the feedback I receive) is purely from my circle of friends, family & colleagues, whom I think are a bit broader minded than the general norm -- but that is just a guess. ÝIt's good to hear another perspective. Ý
I used to have a boss that would pop down to the wallen at lunchtime, (the red light area of amsterdam) and tell us all on his return how it was... so for me, that level of openness is normal, although probably not the norm.
I agree that the myths about indentured labour give many people the totally wrong impression. ÝI LOVE arguing with these people, and setting them straight.
AS for the people who give it "yeah but all the guys who go to do the p4p thing are a bunch of fat bald ugly old gits" well I normally get over that one nicely by threatning to trail them by the ear up to the "wallen", and make them eat their words! Ýlol

To add to the 'Dutch' connection.. I am Dutch myself and left The Netherlands approx. 8 years ago. Ever since, I divided my time between Thailand and being/working at sea. (Micky, not all sailors and up in the P4P action..) When the homefront realised that I really permanently moved to Thailand they reacted with the same narrow minds as described earlier in many posts. After a while most friends and family members came to visit me and all did change their views. Many return on a frequent basis and love Thailand. Many of those friends and family members are now confronting others at home with their experiences and their views about the life in Thailand. It is good to know that all who take the effort to experience thing for themselves are joining us in our love for this beautiful country. Some of them will take part in the P4P scene but many are just enjoying the relaxed and friendly lifestyle. Duth people can be 'narrow minded', but are normally easy to turn around.......
Still like to come back to Holland though, every year max 4/5 days for a little party in Amsterdam, pretty good....
