YESSSSS..... this is also a question that has been boggling me for some time...
If a girl is a total Starfish, no BJ, No DATY, No DFK then we still have to pay 1500 right?
While we can also give 1500 for an outstanding performer, how long do you think it will take for her to realise that her 3 hole/2 shots performance is equally rewarded than the Starfish?

I pay 1500 for sex (regardless of performance) but Gladly reward a girl that I see makes a real effort. She will realise that when performing outstandingly, there is a reward at the end.
Another thing, when I hunt for Freelancers (at BG7 for example), I am always quoted 1000 for ST and always tell the girl I will give her 500 for the ST and another 500 if she is very good: they almost all agree and all make a clear effort to get the extra 500.
I even once gave a girl a 1,000 tip as she agreed to Anal and made me come twice without asking for any extra cash.
Girls know their customers, and will have no problem telling the others how "good" or "bad" you are and the next time you come, they will all know your dirty little secrets

If I get good service at a Oil MP, I tip 1500 and don't feel guilty about it. But if service and attitude are good, I am likely to be a repeat customer and schedule another appointment in advance, which is important to a TG.
OTOH, I usually don't do multi-hole, CIM, or even multi-shot, so I don't feel guilty about those things.

Some good points Meaty:
Personally I would still pay; but never return. For several years I went to the same straight Thai massage parlor and one girl always seemed to want me and it soon became implied that she would give me the massage (as well as her phone number). I always tipped generously and then when I started to tip even more I noticed the service deteriorating and the time of the massage being cut more and more.
The last time when I left I still handed her the tip she had come to expect and I never returned. Now when she sees me walking she always says hello and invites me in; and probably wonders why when I just keep walking.
That is how I deal with a starfish or any other poor service I receive in Thailand too; I pay, say thank you, don't complain, and walk.

I have said it before the "quality" of information on this forum is second to none. Great thread.
Let me preface my two cents worth by saying that the wife and I just spent another two weeks in BKK - mostly in mostly Thai areas - Bang Na, Bang Phli, Seacon and Central (I did say mostly). Home for Songkran to visit with my (fellow blue-collar) working class in-laws.
I don't pretend greater knowledge than expats living in LOS, I am just saying what I see and the feelings I get from the areas I now frequent.
Firstly 100 extra baht is still a lot of money. No (unspoilt) Thai is going to sneer at a 100 baht tip - would you sneer at a gift of enough money to buy your lunch for nearly a week?
As to tipping itself - first example. the wife, as usual, left a 20 baht tip on the table after we finished breakfast our first morning at our regular hotel - the waitress (she'd been there a month) ran after us to the elevators with the money she thought we had forgotten.
Second example was the taxi driver that tooted the horn to bring us back to collect the extra 20 baht we had given him - he thought the notes had stuck together - that was at Seacon square (where I also discreetly tipped a busy security guard 50 baht via a handshake cause he was keeping the queue jumpers in order at his busy taxi station - the bastard ran up to us two days later and songkran-ed us from a water bottle -maybe it doesn't pay to be noticed)
Day before Songkran and Lotus at Seacon was selling water pistols at half price - I got my arsenal, including half a dozen at 18 baht each. Gave the 18 baht ones to young kids in the in-laws soi - they were delighted - OK corral all over again - tried to explain they were gifts for the new year - end of the day five of the six are back on the table at the front of the house. Being able to borrow such a thing was all they expected.
Most of the general hotel staff where we stay get around 200 baht a day. The lobby staff - "our boys" as we call them - well, Surichai has been there for 3 years and is now on 207 baht a day - plus tips just ask the waitress how common they are LOL
Not sure what I am trying to convey here, and I am not trying to shoot down anyone elses postings just conveying how strange it is to read these numbers is an extra 500 enough for super service well, I think you know my answer to that. Enjoy.

They'd have gotten the 2,000 Baht, so they are assured bad service works, and by the time business decreases, they are never able to associate one with the other.

It's probably the most 'Thai' way of dealing with it - but, speculating here, would not a smile, while giving her suddenly the minimum (i.e. the 500 Baht, to use the BG7 analogy), and explaining that you were simply not happy, achieve far more here?
The girl would receive instant notification that she screwed up (!), she would have the option of correcting herself, or you would still have the option of simply walking - the only difference may be that she might not be smiling when you walk by, and that certainly would not be any of your concern, would it?
