yes, I remember when the Clinton Plaza was still throbbing.
It seemed like half the girls there lived in a lot of these "Ladies Only" apartment blocks and there were many around the Thong Lor / Ekkamai area. And yes, they were serious places although I never saw one of the guards wearing a shoulder flash signifying that he was a Labia Guard.
I understood it was for reassuring the family back home that although she was working in the big evil city, she was still 'virgin intacta' and leading the good moral life according to family values and Buddhist beliefs.
Most were quite strict with security and guarded day and night. A few others were lax and one or two were just in name, because at one in particular, I went in and out day and night, passed the guards and spent days inside and going out to the shops occasionally and arriving back at two or three in the morning.
This was at a time when Bangkok was saturated with those obscene Osama Bin Laden T-Shirts. Maybe they could bring them out again now but with an added slogan. Any suggestions ?

When I was living in BKK, I was at the US Embassy to get a new passport and saw a dude that was about 60 with shoe polish died black hair. He was with his "honey" and they were obviously awaiting an interview.
This 100% isaan chick (nothing wrong with that) was about 5 feet tall in 6 inch heels and skin tight jeans with a wife beater t shirt that simply read, "SHORT TIME!" 
I was thinking, "Jesus, you would think she might tone it down for an interview at the embassy!"
