Yes it's possible...rare but possible to have HIV, not have HIV symptoms and still spread it around. It won't even show up in a conventional blood test that you have it, but you still spread the disease, because you DO have it TO spread. And yes the people you spread it to will have all the normal synptoms, just not not the original spreader of the disease. For some reason it could stay dormant in him for dozens of years. Like I said, it's rare.

Hermanolobo - Does this guy seem like the type to give a shit about local customs? He could have lived there 5 or 10 years but if he's the type to try to enforce his own reality wherever he is he would be just as likely to tell dirty jokes to the Pope were he to have an audience with him. No matter where and for how long, scum is still scum. That having been said, I truly don't think that he could survive in Thailand longer than 5 years without someone getting fed up with his shit and giving him a lead injection. Or, maybe that is just wishfull thinking.

before i went to Thailand for the first time i read that touching of the head was taboo, along with other things. i still see this on the net and in books. but i have never had a problem with touching them there. i've touched most of my friends on the head, face(if that counts). to me a caress of the head is just a forn of affection. and as some kow i like to brush their hair and no problem, the girls liked it. i took my girl to her home and met the family and no-one said a word when i used to ruffle her son's hair. and i do it if i get attention from a child in the street and no problems from the mothers normally with them. but the day i dropped a coin and put my foot on it to stop it rolling away was a different matter. stepping on the King's head was a definate no-no and i was certainly told off by more then one person.

I've always been under the impression that the head thing does not apply in the intimacy of the bedroom (provided it occurs in the natural course of events and is not done in a blatantly disrespectful way, obviously). Also, I think that ruffling the hair of small children is OK. More problematic with older children - ie, those who have started to think of themselves as proto-adults. If in doubt, best avoided.

Al Kiholic - I don't mean to dispute your post because the end result is the same but instead I try to put your words it into terms that I am more familiar with. Note : this is based on my understanding of the latest theories dealing with HIV/AIDS. There are no HIV symptoms per se. One can be found to carry either the virus itself, through one kind of test, or antibodies to the virus, through another kind of test. So, one can be carrying the HIV virus and not show any outward symptoms. Once the HIV virus has entered one's body and is detected by one's immune system, antibodies begin to be generated but until the antibody level reaches a certain stage, called sero-conversion, the HIV antibodies can not be detected by tests which only look for the antibodies themselves, which are most of the quicker and cheaper tests. To look for the viral fragments themselves costs more money and more time, at least at the present. The time required for sero-conversion is fairly constant, within a fairly large window. So, within 3 to 6 months, one SHOULD show antibodies being detectable but that is a statistical "should" so there is no 100% guarentee. From the time of HIV infection, the virus entering the body, to the point of developing full blown AIDS, for which there are definite outward symptoms but no single definition or associated disease, can take years. AIDS is not a single disease but more a classification for a range of diseases. This is VERY similar to Lupis although Lupis is the exact opposite. In AIDS, the immune system is supposedly reduced in effectiveness so that opportunistic diseases can take over. Lupis, on the other hand, is the immune system kicking into overdrive and actually causing the immune system to attack the body itself. Just as AIDS can manifest itself in a wide array of illnesses and diseases, so too does Lupis with noted cases ranging from the immune system attack of internal organs to Lupis related arthritis. So, to make a long story short, not only can one transmit the HIV virus without testing positive to viral antibodies but one can be infected for a number of years without showing any outward symptoms. People may argue the existance of HIV or even AIDS but if Lupis is possible then its opposite must also be so. Suit up, the life you save WILL be your own.

Arcadius: you are correct on both counts. Nokna: If you really think that there's never any taboo about touching the top of the head you are quite simply wrong. BGs are not ordinarily going to be the most traditional of girls (though surprisingly some are). By becoming a BG they have in many ways stepped out of mainstream society -- especially those who go into the Farang sector. More than that they have learned to either embrace or at least tolerate the ways of the strange and at times uncouth farang habits, but just because they don't say something doesn't mean it doesn't bother them. I myself have seen and heard on many an occasion BGs smile and act blase about something a falang does and then turn and say something negative in Thai to a friend -- without ever losing the smile. It's very simple. Thais are non-confrontational (up to a point) and as we know will smile a lot but just because you get away with something doesn't mean it doesn't bother anyone.

Nokna, and others - It is not anywhere on the head but the top of the head specifically. This is due to the Chakra point located at the top of the head which attaches one's life force to the creator. If one can see these connections, one will notice that some are brilliant rainbows covering the entire spectrum and beyond that extend as high as the "eye" can see while some are black and terminate a short distance above one's head. Also, the creator doesn't watch what goes on in the bedroom! ;)

An experiment that those of you at home can try. "traditional girls" If there is a TV in the room and your TG is on one side and there is something she may need on the other side, lay down in front of the TV while watching it and see if she is OK with stepping over you. Sorry to digress but this issue can lead to a whole lot of fun!
