Prime Minister Julia Gillard said a variety of factors, including the high Australian dollar, some immigration changes and fierce competition in the region had put pressure on enrolments, but the government would continue to promote Australia as a desirable country to study in.

You might have read and seen Kevin Rudd begging the Indian goverment to promote Indian students-

But Australia is a wealthy Country and the fact remains there loss is not going to impact on us one little bit.

Infact the impression you give that Indians decided not to come here is misleading alittle, as the reality is they did so knowing LAWS were placed which prevented Indians from staying on Visas so easily after courses were successfully completed.

Only those doing Medicine and higher degrees were still considered.

But it is true However most Australians were delighted to see the influx halted and Chinese prefered.

The Pauline Hason supporters do still dislike Asians, but they are a literally dying breed.

I guess if your father helped build Changi railroad you disliked the Japanese to some extent.

I like many Australians Love the asian influx.

I love looking at the girls f***ing them eating their food and sucking up their culture.

Indians suffer more racism than Chinese or Thais whose food cusines are adored here.

Like Thais view Indians as inferior and/or dirty Australians see them as somewhat dirtier in Hygenie also.

The delhi Games Highlighted standard differences.

But the Main objection was Indians staying on here.

Australia has a new Prime Minster and Kevin Rudd does not make up the rules anymore.

China is preferred.

We are doing very nicely on the Boom There as we supply them....all the resources.

Australia is doing very well its unemployment is only 5%, and markets strong.

But back on thread the Thai baht is set to be adjusted shortly as its artifically too high-

The adjustment might not mean too much - but maybe enough to raise a smile.

And Today.......
If you blinked, you might have missed a landmark moment, or you might have just been sleeping.

The Australian dollar reached parity with the greenback for the first time since being floated in December 1983 at 11:18pm (AEDT) on Friday.

Many years ago someone said:

"‎"Today, racism is regarded as a crime if practiced by a majority--but as an inalienable right if practiced by a minority. The notion that one’s culture is superior to all others solely because it represents the traditions of one’s ancestors, is regarded as chauvinism if claimed by a majority--but as 'ethnic' pride if claimed by a minority."

Very true!!

The Indians themselves operate an insidious form of racism called Caste system (on their own poor)

I've taken away 1 "dickhead" comment above because you can't be a 2 x dickhead, thats would be silly and redundant - 1 "dickhead" conveys the message rather aptly

Quack Quack I think you are shooting the messenger. As an employee I simply asked the owners of 2 businesses their opinions of hiring Indians as employees over the lifespan of their businesses. I'm sure you would agree it is vital for its survival that small businesses hire productive workers - incompetent people are quickly found out as there's nowhere to hide in a small team. This rooster that took off to Delhi to see his "arranged" girlfriend (gee I hope she wasn't a dog) even tried the fake injury trick, wearing a neck brace to work to support his case for needing 2 weeks in bed

Now regarding your Indian friends in the US my congratulations to them for being successful. However if they are pretty much unskilled then I would recommend Australia as the minimum wage is high. Indeed an Indian co-worker (Fijian-Indian Quack Quack) and her husband have done quite well for themselves in life with relatively few academic qualifications. Drives the lexus, mortgage paid off, that sort of thing. She too "arranged" her 2 daughters marriages - Australia now have 2 more young men from India filling the skills shortage gap - restocking vending machines with potato chips and confectionary. At least they aren't taxi drivers I guess

She is off to India next month for the first time to see her Guru and I bet once she sees the dire conditions some people live in she'll thank her Gods she lives in Australia

Just thinking there's someone you could rant on about Quack Quack - the dictator who took power in Fiji in a coup, one goal being to remove any Indians from holding political power and to keep Fiji for 'native Fijians'. But I guess you wouldn't be interested as he is not white

Finally if you want to hear from some people that really hate Indians I'll get my 2 Sri Lankan buddies to sign up here. You should see the look on their faces when somebody calls them Indian

I had a good driver who was Indian yesterday Tezza- He even knew the way..

And I am sure if I work hard at it my fruit shop girl from India might Come over one night for a curry.

But that is sheer wishful thinking on my part as the chinese hooker has my dick under control in OZ.

But sometimes you know Tezza there are good and bad in every race.

Some indians are very clever.

I saw a documentary once called SlumDog Millionaire and its about a kid from the slums who wins the indian show called who wants to be a millionaire !?::

Hang on the chips arent coming out (kicks machine)

About the strong baht, its funny to see how the Thai react at it
One girl I know was pissed of that the few hundred euro banknotes she got from a customers are worth less now...she was telling me how the exchange place tried to rip her off giving her only 40 baht for one euro when she knew it was 50...i told her "yeah...used to be 50 but no more" and showed her the rate online...then she realised it was not a scam and was real pissed off that she did not change them before...
Many sellers also told me the tourists are bargaining harder than before, I also saw a group of 4 french tourists, lost, asking me for their way, and when I told them it was a 30 mn walk and that they better take a taxi they refused saying it was too expensive (Expensive? 60 baht?)

Look like more and more Thai find out the hard way that Farangs do NOT own a money tree in their garden and dont know what to do now that their usual tricks no longer work...som nam na!
