Since starting this thread I can now say that I have two tattoos, both on my back and both in the traditional Thai design.
The first one is triangular under my neck and spreads out across my shoulders and the second one is a big picture of Hanuman, a famous Thai soldier with 4 arms.
I got them because of the tsunami and it took me a long time to decide on the one I wanted first - I actually saw it on the back of a Thai girl in Rock City in Phuket so I took a picture of it and went up Bangla Road and had it done.
What is it like to get one? To me, it feels like the guy is pushing a nail into my skin and then dragging it along. Ouch!
I always get positive comments when I have a massage as both tattoos are signs of good luck - also, my wife loves 'em!

On my last trip to Thailand 2 weeks back, as I was on the Thai Plane reading the Sawasdee Book an there was an article on this subject.
My brother in law has one and they say you get power and magic if you have one of these tattoos from the Monk.
I have never been a sheep so I don't like to do what every one is is doing just for a fashion thing, though since I have started to try and understand in the Buddha way of Life things have changed !
I've been lucky, Business is going OK in these hard times and things are just falling into place like Never before?
So I think I'll get one on my back, first night I arrive I ring the Thai Wife back in Australia and tell what I'm about to do, she said Darling I not like don't get it!
Go out bar fine a lady wear comdom and pay her that's better.
WTF ok I'll listen to the Wife for Once, True Story.
But I still want one on my hammer and tack. (back)

I don't know much about the Buddha religion but I do know this as from my Thai wife shouts at me when this happend.
I was in a gogo bar having a good time, the Mrs phoned me and told her to wait I be out side Nana in a minute, she couldn't wait and met me in the gogo where she noticed my Buddha on my necklace was showing, told me it's no good to let see Buddha see bad things like this.
One day playing around I put pants on my head ( clean ) to get a laugh but the Mrs went mad told me to go into the other room to pray to Buddha as it's showing him bad.
Even when pegging the washing out she tells me not to walk under the Bra's and pants as it's no good to Buddha.
So a Buddha Tattoo would be off my list as the Thai ladies wouldn't be very Impressed seeing this while they are doing there sin.

Very interesting, James.
Luckily, my tattoos are not of an actual Buddha image but in the Buddhist style.
Also, mine are on my back so they never get to see what's going on in front!
Nice to see that you hang the clothes out for your wife, too!

I have just the one tattoo,,,
It is a strange combination of a bauld Frenchman and a stupid duck.
I have it very close to me anus for two reasons.
1) I like to keep it near, so that I can shit on it at every opportunity
AND
2) As a constant reminer of what a pain in the ass he is

Tattoos are most often displayed by bikers of the Hells Angels variety,and others who it would not be unfair to label "low class".How many people who have made a significant contribution to the planet`s scientific,or intellectual achievements boast of having a tattoo?
Those who have a tattoo done in their teens or twenties more often than not regret their decision in more mature years,and seek to have their tattoos removed,often with poor cosmetic results.
How many Forum members avoid taking girls with tattoos because experience has confirmed that mostly they are decidedly inferior in terms of providing a GFE?
