Hi all, Not new to this board but haven't posted in about 3 years! Just wondering if anyone has any experience of exporting clothes from Thailand to the UK? (especially silk robes / pyjamas / boxer shorts / dresses / scarves / etc). Are there any reputable wholesalers for such things in Bangkok? I heard a rumour there may be some in Pratunam - don't know if this is true or not? Will I need an export licence? If so, presumably it is difficult / impossible for a farang who doesn't live or work in Thailand to obtain such a thing? Will the wholesaler be able to sort out export legalities for me? If I use (e.g.) DHL to ship the goods out of Thailand, will DHL be able to sort out export licences/legalities for me? Hope someone can help with these questions? Many thanks, John

Pratunam (Baiyoke) area is certainly the area to find wholesalers. 'City Centre' is the best known. Be aware though that some countries handle quota and the likes. Ask your embassy/consulate (trade section) for advice.

Pratunam market is the source for a lot of clothes you see in various shops. Whoever you use to export can sort out the documentation needed. A courier like DHL is the easiest way to go but the cost of shipping per piece may wind up being as much as the cost of the garment itself. If you have enough volume to fill a container then you can ship via sea using a freight forwarder and save a bundle.

Pratunam is the place to go. The shop most of the time have a card to some close export company. You need no licens just a quta for some items. The company will know about it and call you one as well. What I understand there is no more quta in Thailand no more but I might be wrong
