How important for Thais is valentines day??

Left it a bit late to send flowers to my sponsored minx now twiddling her thumbs at my expense in the village of Nakon nowhere in Buriram...........well guess I could try Thai flowers etc but frankly paying £50 quid for a tiny bunch of flowers worth 300baht pisses me off.

Could Western union a couple of thousand baht and tell her to go buy them for herself at least then she gets a pretty good arrangement but no suprise and not so romantic

However even less romantic would be to do nothing and considering she is a miserable cow at times I am tempted just to forget the day................but would that be a major blunder do Thai honeys back in the village take the day as seriously as in Farang land.

Thanks for any info

None of the TGs I ever met knew about Valentine's day. Unless it is being advertised in BKK I doubt they even know about it.

When I was with my Mainland Chinese GF she had no idea or care about Valentine's day as it receives no press in China. But my current GF from Singapore is a totally different matter. There are so many Valentine promotions going on in Singapore I would be big trouble if I did not do something for her on that day...

IMO, it may not be big deal for her but send her something anyway and she will be happy whether its late or not. Maybe help her to be less of "a miserable cow".

Send her the cash so she can take her thai boyfriend or f*** partner up country out to dinner at your expense...

Freddy, you just answered your question. Forget it. BTW are you in the shit with her.

Next time you talk with her and if she happens to ask re Valentines, say, "we do not have Valentine here, it is no big deal". Just lie to her. Or as bestmate said, send her money and she can take the Thai BF out at your expense, up to you.

Maybe then, but not now. Emporium Dept. store's got a rather large display of all-things-pink-to-show-you-care running now.

And my apartment staff alerted me yesterday to plan ahead for the occasion, with no prior mention of the day on my part, mind you. Oh they know about it alright....

The notion of romance is an easy sell in these parts.

even cynical twisted-hearted ole me is gonna do something special for his sweety for Valentine's

and yes, most TGs, unless they are the most ignorant cuss you ever met, know about the occassion

but must pronounce it Wahlentine (a W vs. V, and no final S)

Some girls I'm friend with in an upscale Bar on Soi 22 downright *ordered* some gift or flowers from me for Valentines Day...

They surely adopt anything that fits with their needs in an instant... Look at that Christmas thing in Thailand Shopping Malls...

In my experience Thai floosies celebrate Valentine's Day as another excuse to have a party and try to get more money, gifts, etc., from the men they're associated with. The in-love floosies (and non-P4P TGFs) celebrate it more or less as falang women do.

Why bother with Valentines Day! You're sponsoring her already so what's the "sometimes miserable cow" gona do if you don't send her anythin', refuse your next months deposit!

Think yourself lucky M8, my XTGF had her birthday on Valentines Day (that's so inconsiderate) which meant I had to fork out for two roses that day!!

Cheerio
PS: If you really must then, telephone her and promise you'll take her out for a "special" evening next time you see her.
