This is very important information. 
Especially for those guys who do have Thai children, and may be considering removing them from Thailand because of family disputes, seperation, divorce etc...
I had a client recently who was in the middle of a custody battle and he came to us for advice...
He was shocked we told him that "Parental Kidnapping is not a crime in Thailand."
Now he wishes he had known this before...
Taken his kid to the shops (inside the International Airport Departure lounge) gotten the hell out of Thailand and THEN applied for a divorce...
Too late now! It's a bit complicated but the court may even forbid him from taking his kid out of Thailand. He is well gutted...
"GENERAL INFORMATION: Parental Kidnapping is not a crime in Thailand and Thai authorities will not issue a warrant or become involved should one parent take a child without the other parent's authorization. The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction cannot be invoked if a child is taken from the United States to Thailand, or vice versa, by one parent against the wishes of the other parent or in violation of a U.S. custody order."

I am not advocating kidnapping your own child.
But it's better if you play the game knowing ALL the rules...

I have noted in some cases Western fathers sometimes delay the nationality registration of their kids.
My suggestion is to get your kid registered as a national of your home country asap.
You may still have, as TPE indicates mega trouble, but at least your embassy will listen. Get your kid a passport asap.
For example, I know a couple had a kid, wife is Chinese, father holds an Australian passport, but registered his daughter as a Brit. Why? Cause the wife had a Australian visa, and the husband was born in the UK. So if the father splits with the wife, he can take his kid where the wife cannot go-the UK.
And thats what happened.
Don't know how it works in every country but check it out. All officials like paper so get your kid papered up.

I know a lass in Phuket, used to be married to a farang (I knew him reasonably well)....owned a bar in Patong.....
He got in financial trouble....skipped town with the daughter (aged 18 months)...never to return.
She hasn't seen her own daughter for 14 years.
That's kinda cruel....works both ways.

And what's worse is the stories the parent who absconds with the child tells a young, very impressionable mind about the other parent, often making any subsequent contact all but impossible.
No adult will ever tell a child, "Yeah I just took you away cause I didn't like your mom/dad anymore."
Nobody plays fair and the kids always lose somethng.
