Hi my friends, now I've done it... during my recent visit in April/May my TGF I went to the German embassy and we applied for a Schengen visa. And passed. I put some information together, maybe somebody else can use it in the future. Especially because the main concern of the German embassy at the moment is "will she return". Very funny is that they accept an older Schengen visa where the girl went back after as a proof she will also go back again. But how to proof she will go back the first time? This is the tricky part. After you get a Schengen visa the first time it seems to be much easier in the future for re-application. Material attached to the visa application: - her bank account statement, the thing is I am sponsoring for some time already, and she always puts the cash to the bank first, before she takes it from the ATM back. So she has every month a regular income. - letter of a friend owning a company, that she is working for them on commission (no fixed contract), and that she can leave unpaid for 2 months because of the special opportunity visiting Europe - invitation letter, written by me, I write that I know her long time, travelled with her together in Asia already (confirmed with passport copies of stamps), and that I invite her for the soccer championship to Germany - copy of her Bachelor degree - her passport is an older one, with already a lot of stamps in it - the embassy does not like the new ones. She was traveling with me in Hongkong, China and Malaysia before (she also has a China 6 month visa). - of course the other stuff, photo, application form, flight reservation, formal declaration for living expenses and so on, but this is pretty obvious stuff what you can read also on the embassy's homepage Notes: - it was her first application and also my first invitation - we applied for 60 days, single entry, and got 60 days multiple entry Interview in the embassy: In the German embassy some Thai clerks are checking all the documents, and are interviewing the girl in Thai. I was not involved at all. I took around 5 minutes, and the Thai clerk is writing a summary of the interview in German on a paper, this is the guideline for the German decisionmakers later. Questions asked: - how long we know each other? - travelled before together? - what is she working, what's her position, what is the company name and address she is working for? How long she is working for them? - has she been introduced to me, or did we met directly? - where is she going to? - she applied for a Schengen visa before? Also we were dressed very supab... unlike some others, coming in almost swimsuit like dresses with falang guys in short trousers and undershirts.

Wow, I only wish it was that easy for a U.S. Visa. It took me nearly two years. The papers kept disapearing in the mail. Hmmm. Finally I had to have it held at the post office for pickup.
