I have had some haircuts in Bangkok, with mixed results.
On recommendation of a girl in Eden (they can be used for other things than sex) I visited a hair salon on Sukumvit Soi 7, on the right just as you enter the soi. Just next to the pool bar (freewave?).
As my girl said: "They are very professional, they cut hair all day".
Cost: 250 baht, and well worth it.

There's an excellent barber's on Sukhumvit Soi 8 about 50 metres in on your right hand side that I'd highly recommend, the best haircut I've had in living memory. Very professional, with an 'old fashioned' feel with the use of hot towels, etc. and an absolute bargain at 250 baht!!

The World Champion hairdresser (though how they judge this I will never know....I think there are many 'World Champions') has his shop in Bangkok. He won in Korea 2006.

Funny....no mention of his bangkok shop on the website, despite the fact that he is always there.
To have your hair cut by him is 200B.
250B is way overpriced....a decent gent's haircut is never more than 50B

Agree with Yurune & Local on this one. 50b for mens haircut in Pratu Nam.
200-250b is a bargain, no doubt about that. What does that say for 50b cuts.

The only difference I have found is a matter of style. The cheap places, 50-60 baht, don't have a pretty girl wash your hair. But they offer services like a shave included, plucking your earhairs if you have any, trimming your nostrils, whatever.
However their haircuts are the uniform--offhand I forget the Thai term which is something like "long suwan"--bowl on the head type haircut where the top grows down and the underneath is short to meet it, and eventually you are looking like Moe of The Three Stooges or an Aztec. Either that or they can shave it all for you (such as a Roman slave), which seems to be popular now.
The more expensive places can do something a little more fitting to your particular head, perhaps more modern if you like that kind of thing, or some other variety than listed above. Plus a pretty girl to wash your hair for you.
Up to you, I've done both over the years, have even got 10 and 20 baht haircuts in a Northern village--which left me looking like a Nazi tank commander, but was serviceable enough.

Finally an interesting posting with amusing, helpful responses and no slagging.....so far.
50-60 baht haircuts are ok for blokes with normal hair. But, if you have slightly wavy hair like mine, which grows in every direction, the local Thais don't know how to deal with it as they rarely come accross wavy hair in Thailand and they usually f*** it up.
I found a lass on soi 15 called Pen that does a great job for 200 baht. Takes her time, studies your head, checks the direction that your hair grows, asks you questions, what you want etc. then gives you a good farang cut, none of the 3 stooges haircuts as mentioned above. Plus I like the way she moves around. Slightly erotic.

Mate, you must have some f***ed up head. The girl has to study it.
SJ, for my 50b, the hairdresser also does the hair in ears and nose and does not use a bowl, lol. And Kenneth, I have wavy hair as well, lol.
