I've had some wonderful times on every trip to LOS, however I will always remember during my first trip to Thailand seeing first hand just how poor some of these wonderful Thai people really are...and ever since then, I have wondered how I could help them and give something back.
I donate money to various charities on a regular basis, however, for some time now I have been donating to the Human Development Foundation - http://www.mercycentre.org - a charity founded by Father Joe Maier, a Redemptorist Priest over 30 years ago - helping the Klong Toey slum communities.
On my next trip to LOS, I will visit the HDF centre, and give my assistance in any way that I can, so I was really, just wondering if anyone on this board has ever been there, or know anything about it...?
A book has also been published by Father Joe called 'The Bangkok Slaughterhouse' which for anyone who hasn't read it - some of the true life stories bring more than a tear to the eye.
Any info would be great.....TIA....

Well, there is the 1st Annual Father Joe 9 Ball Charity Challenge which will be held at the Roadhouse BBQ on Saturday 16th June 2007.
Entry fee is 2000 B which includes a light lunch, free flow of Heineken and all day buffet dinner & goodies bag.
1st Prize: 20,000 B
