Hello gentlemen, Powder here

I will be comming to LOS soon. I hope in January but do now know for sure. I am in the process of settlements from the VA and SSD. I am a 35 year old vet and am considering living in LOS perm. I will recieve a healthy lump sum of cash (100k+) and monthly of about 3k. I assume this is enough cash to live well in LOS. I have been reading this forum for several months and am more now have more questions than answers. I had no idea of the levels of debauchery one could sink to in LOS. I cant wait to get there and do some sinking of my own. I have read every website for every GoGo, Mp, Beer Bar, Escort Service and hotel I can find. I read the classifieds and forum here daily and am just driving myself crazy. HELP!!! Okay, the questions.

1. I want to go to Pattaya. Should I go there right from the airport or kick it in BBK for a couple days? When I do go to Pattaya, Classroom offers transportation complete with couple tgs and drinks. Is this a good idea or just another way to seperate me from my bhat?

2. In Pattaya, is the Penthouse hotel any good? Have heard mixed reports but understand they have done some work on it. Opinions please.

3. Where to stay in BBK...I want to live a little, would like a jacuzzi in the room...any suggestions?

4. I am thinking of opening a business there. Is this more trouble than it is worth? Was thinking of a little bar...maybe call it the BTF Bar...Input please.

5. Any of you BBK masters care to take the greenest newbie ever to drink a Singha under his wing?

That is enough questions for now. Will post more as they come up. Hope you gents can help me out. I plan to throw a big ass party to celebrate my arrival when I get there...maybe you can give me some guidance. Also, since I don't know anyone in LOS will need some guests at my party. Anyone interested, Im buying at least the first few rounds of drinks.

Any input you can provide will help...thanks, P

Mr Alan
With regard to opening a business in LOS, it is not easy, and if I had your guaranteed income, I would not even try, especially if it meant investing any cash.

You will probably find it quite difficult to get a visa to live permanently (legally) in Thailand unless you can find a employer to get one for you. English teachers are often provided visas to live in LOS, but you may tire of that job if you have a guaranteed income. But you may not have any other options if you want to live in Thailand.

If you have any ideas about buying property in Thailand, be advised that you will usually be limited to a condo with a 30 year lease (as opposed to outright ownership). At your age, you may live longer than that.

Hello mr Powder.

You must stop in Bkk for a few days.
Take a hotel in Sukhumvit area then you have close to Nana and Cowboy wich you must do.
From bkk it cost around 1k to Ptty and I think for a newbie is the best, (door to door).

Wow I never heard of anyone planning to move to a place before ever being there. It's one thing to go on a vacation and quite another to live there. The abundance of pussy could wear off after a few weeks, you'll always be an outsider, and your far away from home. You'll also be at the mercy of crooked cops and a government that's not farang friendly. That being said Thailand is still a great place. With cash coming in every month why don't you travel around (not just Thailand but around the world) until you come to place that you just love. For Thailand I recommend renting a long term apartment and to just see if you can live there for an extended amount of time. For good or bad, it's sure not the U.S....

Spend some time in BKK before you go to Pattaya. Both are great cities and BKK is a good start. In Pattaya, the go go bars including Classroom are all within walking distance. You don't have to get a ride from the place and it should cost more if they give you a ride, etc.

  • 1. up to you really, but I always recommend going straight to Pattaya, then you won't be paying BKK prices in Pattaya, instead you'll be reminded you coulda gotten everything cheaper in Pattaya while you're in BKK

You'll also see more flesh in Pattaya in the Go-Gos, many go topless and sometimes they get butt naked, hard to find in BKK.

and about the Go-Go bar arranging transportation, hmm I sure hope you get to pick the girls in advance, otherwise they'll just put the gals in the ride with you that are low on quota for that month. If you like Blind dates, go for it, and bring your own condoms

  • 2. don't know much except what I've read on here about it. I understand that they're so overbooked that they don't even bother answering eMails or even care about making a reservation for you. BTW, UTFSE and you should find plenty on it

  • 3. again, UTFSE

  • 4. what on Earth for ?, so you can drain the pension to nill every month with as little effort as possible...

  • 5. Sure there will be, maybe ask again in the Meeting Members thread when you're nearer to coming over

I can't imagine why you wouldn't consider settling in Pattaya vs. Bangkok, especially if you're on a pension/budget

Hey Powder

You should definately acclimate yourself in BKK for week or two - learn the ropes meet some bro's.

Ptty has many opportunities and relatively inexpensive - with your stipend you would be very comfortable there.
Forget the Penthouse Hotel - roach infested. I suggest the Lek for a week so you can learn the lay of the land. Ask for the "New Wing" big comfortable rooms in the middle of all the action - hit Tims Go-Go right across the street - u will not regret it.

In BKK, I suggest The Grottino on Soi 19, very close to Soi Cowboy and Nana - great location - clean and comfortable room.

Make sure you get yourself a cell phone - must have.

Lastly - take a quick trip to Phuket - a dip in the ocean there will cement you in Thailand forever.

PS - why do they call u powder?

Thanks for all the input gents...I would call you bros but since I have not been there yet don't feel I rate yet. All this is very helpful. I do plan to travel before I settle anywhere. Been chatting with women on the net in Taiwan, Indonesia, Phillipines and China so will not be without a dinner date. All single and all cuties.

Calzoid, they call me Powder because, well I am pretty white and well, I shaved my head and remember the movie "Powder"? You should be able to figure out the rest.

Keep the advice comming. I hope to meet up with some of you in LOS soon...January I hope.
