Hi everybody. This is my first post. I am so happy I discovered that forum a few weeks prior to my next visit to LOS. Last time I was there it was, let's see, 20 years ago!!! Since that time I always promised myself to go back. Life being what it is, it's only this year that I found the time to go back. September 17 is the date that keeps flashing in my brain at the moment.
I have two goals for this trip:
1-Women
2-Diving
I know I could do a combination of both too. The plan is this: I will stay in Bkk for 3 or 4 days, just to get it out of my system. Then I will fly to Phuket where I will take an open water certificate (an old dream of mine). I am hoping that I will find a girl I like in Bkk so I can bring her with me in Katon Beach where I intend to stay. I may or may not take a diving trip to PhiPhi, I am not sure at this point.
I think I am going to stay at the Grand President while in Bkk. I have already contacted Marc at Eden to book a few sessions with his ladies. I hope I will have the time and energy to try an oily, a soapy and anything worth my precious little time there. I am not a gogo bar type of guy, but I might try a couple, just to see.
Thanks to all of you gentlemen who are providing poor animals like me with all that precious info I can read in your posts. At this point I have only a couple of stupid questions to ask:
1-Name of a good travel agent in Bkk to book my flight from Bkk to Phuket.
2-What is it in Bkk: 110 v or 220 v?

Thailand is 220V 50 Hz. Outlets are the EU type with 2 round plugs, but some outlets also accept American type flat blade plugs with 2 prongs.

Pogo,
You plan to be in Phuket in September? Remember that it's monsoon season right now and diving off the west coast of Thailand isn't likely to be very good. You may want to consider researching some dive sites off the east coast instead.
I got my PADI certification in Phuket back in February. Water clarity was pretty good but the dives themselves weren't the most exciting scenery-wise. Best dive site relatively close to Phuket (IMHO) was off Phi Phi. Supposedly, the Similan Islands offer the best diving experience in that part of Thailand.

There is no discount (or penalty) for late purcahse of lfights - so as suggested, just buy it off thai at the airport when you land.
As padawan says the best diving in Thailand is in the Similian Islands. they are closed from May-Mid Oct - so that wont be a huge amount of help to you.
There is great diving in Krabi, and also at some points off Phuket. Dont worry too much about clarity of water. I have dived it in Monsoon and it can be as good, if not better than the calmer months. friends of mine are diving Krabi at the moment and are having a great time.
A Padi course should cost you between 9,000 and 11,000 baht.

These are both excellent schools in Pattaya. You can get your open water certification and spend evenings getting Sanook Certification! For open water certification, Pattaya is fine. Visibility is not as good as Koh Tao or PhiPhi, but you are just getting the certification so instructor quality is much more important. These are both top-notch schools.

Hi guys, I'm a newbie to the thailand scene and I'll be taking a trip to BKK early october for about 7 days.
The thing is, "SEX" is part of the trip but I'm also going for sightseeing having never been around bkk and so forth.
Ok, I'm asian and I don't think I look like a thai and I do not speak a single word of thai, so naturally I'm pretty tensed about getting ripped off during my trip.
I've done plenty of research so far(didn't do this much research even for my thesis paper!) over at nanapong, stickman, sammyboy, WSG and naturally at this site. Amongst all the forum I find that BKKtonight has been the most user friendly and informative. No doubt thanks to all you veterans...
Here is my question. I'm will be in bkk alone for the whole trip and would gladly pay a lady to take me around bkk to show me the places I'm interested in seeing.
Where would be the best place to find them?
Remember, I don't speak thai and I would preferably wish for a lady who could at least converse a little with me in english. Are MP girls a good bet? How about BGs?
I have even thought about cocktail bars and FL. What do you guys think?
The think is, I don't want a girl who's got nothing but air in her head. And no offense but most BGs seem to fit into that category. I can't imagine spending the whole day with an airhead who's got nothing interesting to talk about(well if the sex is good, that's another story...)
In your minds, which girls would you prefer, bargirls, FLs or beer garden girls, MP girls? Is there even a difference?
