This is my first visit to BKK. And a newbie on the
forum.
I am spending 5 nights in BKK. I have read good
things (lower price!) about Pattaya. Is is worth
taking a side trip to Pattay? I am thinking along
the lines of spending day 1 & 2 in BKK, 3& 4 in
Pattaya and 5 in BKK again to make it to the flight
in time.
Apart from the money aspect, I assume the
girls in Pattaya would be less 'hardened' than the ones
in BKK. Would that be a fair assumption?

he he, some of the gals in PTTY are even more callous and hardened than the fembots in BKK
the Beer Bar gals are laid back normally, but some of the Go-Go chicks are not Even into the GFE or any of that. Just want money, and out the door.
It's a different experience altogether on some aspects.
I spent a night in NEP last week that was a blast. I knew I was getting the hustle, but didn't bother trying to pull in the purse strings too hard and had a great time.
In PTTY the hustle is not so prevalent. There are enough punters and BGs around for everyone to be happy. I noticed at NEP there were heaps more fems waiting to get BFed, so they are certainly having to hustle.
don't worry about making the plane from PTTY, it's only a 2 hour drive. You can now go around the city to the East and shoot straight in to Don Muang.

Taking a trip to Pattaya is worth it. A few days in Pattaya and back to Bangkok will make you appreciate both cities. Many of the tgs in Pattaya are more laid back. Its just one big party there. The rates seem to be a little higher with some of the go go bars, but thats due to some tourists paying more than usual. If you like beer bars and having nice conversations outdoors, Pattaya is the place to go. There are some hardened girls there, but you just avoid them. The city also has good day activities, such as Koh Larn Island, wind surfing, and the beaches. It costs only 90 baht to take a bus from BKK to Pattaya. If you want more info, send me a message.

Only 5 days? Not much time. For your first trip you might want to get comfortable and figure out how it works in one place before going to another. Don't know where you are coming from, but consider jet lag as well.

I'd say do both, they are only 2 hours apart and that way you sample both which you can consider as an investment in your next trip.

Opinions seem to vary on this subject. I have been to Thailand six times and I would advise you to stay in Bangkok as you are only there for five nights. You will not get real cuties for 500 baht in Bangkok or Pattaya but if you are a cheap charlie then maybe Pattaya will be more to your liking. A taxi from Bangkok will cost about 1000 baht----do westerners actually go by bus?

I took the bus. I've seen a few on the bus, some with their tgs. For 90 baht and its airconditioned, the money you save can go towards other stuff. I don't want to disagree, but I saw some cuties in Pattaya and Bangkok for 500 baht. Bus, cab, it all takes about the same amount of time.

Of course we do - I think the only time I took a cab was my first time, as I didn't know any better. Subsequent times, my TG decided to use the bus. Great trip, better legroom, cheaper by far (at 90 Baht), and takes roughly the same time.

5 days, ah such little time, I DONT recommend Pattaya unless you want to see strange things being placed into and SHOT out from women.
5 days in BKK will only give you time to scratch the surface of the HUGE entertainment availablities.
I suggest 3 nights in Nana plaza and another two in Soi cowboy.Both within a few kilometres of each other so you can stick with same hotel if you find a good one with a good price, try Ambassodore,, or Regecy park both around US$25

No offence mate but we all have different ideas of what a "cutie" is. My ideal girl is 20 years old, light skinned, very pretty and able to speak enough English to hold a conversation. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places but I can't find girls like this for 500 baht, in fact I would not "insult" a girl by offering 500 baht--Jesus that is about £7 or 10 US dollars.
