I do care how much it costs as some point, but the extra B500 is like $13. It's kinda like if a BG here asked for $300, and I said, no, I think you're only worth $287.
I do not, however, want to contribute to inflation and ruin it for everyone else.
A little off the subject, but at Chatuchak I wasn't allowed to bargain, even 1 bit. They had some nice brushed stainless belts, but wouldn't even come down in price by B20 from asking, and let me walk. I could only get a better price by going to another vendor, and still had to pay original asking. Still, that was like $3 for a nice belt, and I was trying to get 50 cents off.

I've bargained down nearly everything I bought from there. Do you have 'SUCKER' tatooed on your forehead??? (j/k).
I found that the guys at the outer edge of the market are highly unwilling to bargain, but if you go 'deeper' in the market, you will find that a better willingness to bargain.
Might have to do with the fact that most farang only go 'shallow'. (speculation)

Iwas at Chatuchak last Saturday (shit it was crowed & hot, GO EARLY!) and you should be able to get at least 30-40% off everything that is not marked with a special price!
Obviously you won’t get this or probably anything off the trinkets & clothing in the 99 Baht etc tables but the larger & more expensive items can always be bought for a lower price!

As BigDUSA says, if you read the prices on the forum, why bother to ignore them? You say that it's like you deducting $13 from a $300 bill, but of course, it's not. What you were doing was overpaying by a factor of up to 100% depending on those other circumstances I mentioned in my post. If you're feeling flush/flash, it's a far better idea to agree the going rate and tell the girl that you'll give her a generous tip if she performs above expectations, an incentive bonus.
I'm having a bit of a problem equating your largesse with paying the BGs what they ask for and then acting with principle (correctly) when they were trying it on at at the Patpong show or with you bargaining at the market. I promise you that the principles are just the same at the Market and the bar. Everything's negotiable.
The reason that the girl had to get changed and dance was because that was what was she is employed to do. Although you were the only punter there, other prospects looking in do see a good selection that way. Even you as a possible client there, might agree that seeing the girls wearing less clothes increases the possibility of you selecting one. It's a case of putting the goods in the shop window as it were.

Sorry bro...I cant quite buy into this analogy....the difference between B2,000 and B1,500 is 25% or 33% depending on how you do your math....
Better analogy to Hawaii would be more like: " telling her no,... $300 is too much...you are only worth $200" B500 is small money to you but a big difference percentage wise. You are right...please dont let your willingness to overpay spoil it for us..

I think that it might have been Kotler who once said, "Charge the price the market will withstand". This is the principal that the girls use and they always try to escalate the price to find the limit i.e. what the market will withstand or pay.
I believe that if the "market price" is ST 1500 for a BG from an NEP/SC GoGo then that's what should be paid. If you have special circumstances (only one in the bar, closing time etc.) then try to get the price down but it will be difficult to get the price lower than the market price under most circumstances.

Actually, my plan was to bargain for everything. Had a printout of how much everything is supposed to cost, from beer, to girls, to t-shirts. But once I got there, I just had too much fun the 1st day - 3 girls, cheap software, fake polo shirts, the most fun of my entire life! Managed to bargain at Pratunam Market and even a store in the mall across Marriott, but I thought there was some type of conspiracy at Chatuchak. The only thing I bought was a couple belts for B170. Maybe price was too cheap to bargain, but 3 places let me walk instead of give me B20 off. Found some later near the Grand Palace for B100.
Part of the problem with me overpaying is my ego. I get to pretend I'm rich for once. Woo-hoo, I'm a millionaire. Stay at a 5-star, flash money around...oh yes, one more mistake I made, which applies in just about any sex bar anywhere - don't let the girls see how much money you have in your wallet. I was just casually taking out money to pay for the beers. Back at my hotel, I told the girl I needed to "change money". I meant turn some 1000s into 100s and 20s. She said "You have enough money". I picked up on that right away, but forgot about it the next day.
