Thought I posted this in "Anything Else" not "Newbie Questions". No wonder I couldn't find it to see what reponses it got.
I am more than happy in my current relationship so Minder's Psych 101 isn't on the mark. Could be that I'm extra horny lately and noticing the women more easily... that's probably closer to the mark.
I was working last night (after I posted this tread) and damned if I didn't get a new 20-year-old student. Naturally, she's hot as hell. Very poor English though... but an excellent smile and beautiful eyes. A joy to look at.

It could be the lack of decent/recent sexual activity...too many ladies, too little good men (thai)
I am not a farang looking but it's very easy also for me to get the attention of thai ladies wherever I am.....guess the Jap looking and the smart casual dress makes them think I am worthy a try!

Not so sure that it is an illusion. Granted my experience with TGs is mostly with bargirls (the rest being teachers, students of mine, or family of the bargirls) but it seems to be the general attitude that the farang man is much better than the Thai man (and I'm not just talking about from a financial point of view).
Countless stories I've heard about drunken, wife-beating, good-for-nothing Thai husbands. Hell, one of them is my sister-in-law's husband whom I've had the misfortune of meeting... as well as taking in his abused wife.
I've heard a lot less about drunken, wife-beating, good-for-nothing farang husbands. Of course, such farang exist... I just think it's not very common.
Don't have stats to back this up. Just seems to be the general attitude I've gotten from people. I couldn't tell you how many times I've been asked if I have any farang friends I can introduce to this one or that ones sister, etc.

A lot of that has to do with the farang propaganda machine (i.e., many of the girls believe what they read in the brochure about farangs, and thus tends to focus on the good.
I'm sure there's plenty of such farangs (many of those in the prole demographic qualify, I'm sure) that qualify as the 'bad' farangs (heck, we seem to read a lot about them in the Pattaya news - though I'm sure BKK is not immune either).

My gut feeling is that there's a couple of factors interplaying here, and granted, this is based on an admittedly small sample of girls I spoke to), but the story seems to be that invariably they 'fell in love' with their Thai guy, who then cheated on them, beat them (you know, the program) - and now are
'looking' for a farang guy to take care of them -- pair that with most girls having a list of criteria, and also having a list of the types of guys they don't like, and you end up (ideally) with a better quality farang for the girls, than the Thai guy that 'turned' them.
Of course, the farang BF/Husband will still cheat on them, but as long as he's no drunkard, won't beat them, and steal their money... they must figure 3-out-of-4 ain't bad

(LY, I think what he meant is the same observation I had -- we read more about such abuses in Pattaya, than in BKK. BKK news seems to be reserved for farang suicides from the top of Nana hotel; Pattaya news appears to be reserved for farangs killing or abusing their gf/wife - weird journalism)
