Sukhumvit might be the longest road in Thailand.
Goes south all the way to Pattaya (and perhaps as far as Cambodia) and north all the way to Chiang Mai.

algbal, The Landmark is a good location, don't forget to try the beer garden opposite the hotel on Soi 7, starts to get busy from about 4pm. Use the skytrain for some destinations, a ticket for ten rides is 250 baht.

Cheers Jimmyredcab, I'll be in the hotel first day around 2ish. A quick shower then a beer in the beer garden seems like an excellent way to get the holiday off to a 'banging' start.
Probably a more sedate way to start the holiday than visiting Eden as my 1st excursion in bkk. I think I may be too much of a newbie virgin to take on the girls from Eden!!!! (well the 1st day anyway!)
(but then again Eden does seem pretty close to the hotel!!///???)

Algbal:
Eden and Soi 7 Beer Garden are practically across the street from Landmark. However, you need to walk to the left half a block when yoou get out of the hotel to cross the road or right for a little longer for an overpass crossing. Soi Nana is about a block from the hotel. I would not recommend walking to Soi Cowboy during the day (heat) or night (katoeys). Take a taxi from across the street - won't cost more than 50 baht. Also, there's a ton of restaurants within walking distance from Landmark. Enjoy!

Landmark is ideal location. Everything is 5 to 20 minutes depend on how much of the weight you want a loose. I did some late night walking from soi cowboys to landmark, it wasn't bad, as long as you keep you face straight and pay no attention to LB even if they grab your third leg. You will be okay. Take a BTS to avoid too much walking espeically if you are planning to hit Soi 33 and Baron

I have heard Sukhumvit starts (or ends) in downtown BKK where it turns into Ploenchit and runs to just short of Chanta Buri at the intersection of Highway 3 with Highway 317, the road to Soi Dao.
